Who is Anna in The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window?
Anna is the leading character of The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window. After her daughter Elizabeth was murdered and eaten by Massacre Mike, Anna separated from her husband Douglas and now lives alone, or so she would believe.
No longer interested in painting, Anna spends her time drinking lots of wine (and I mean lots of it) as she stares out at the window. There have even been times when she forgets that Elizabeth has died and carries on with her day as though Elizabeth was still alive.
Following the death of Elizabeth, Anna has developed an overwhelming fear of the rain, a fear she often discusses with her therapist over the phone. Whilst heavily reliant on glasses of wine, Anna also has an overactive imagination.
What does Anna do? (spoilers)
There’s a glimmer of happiness for Anna when her attractive new neighbor Tom, and his daughter Emma, move into the house opposite. Although, Anna isn’t aware that Tom actually has a girlfriend. Upon meeting his girlfriend, Lisa, Anna suspects that she is a drug dealer.
One night, after Anna has quite a fair few glasses of wine, she believes that she witnesses someone kill Lisa. But no one will believe her and she finds herself alienated from the street. Regardless, it doesn’t take long before Anna starts to think that Tom may be involved. And as a result, she stalks/investigates Tom.
Her investigations catch the attention of SexyRexy, aka Rex. And before she and Rex have a wild night of sex, he tells Anna that Lisa is a con artist. The following day, after Lisa’s body is found, SexyRexy is initially arrested for the murder until a murder weapon gets uncovered and Anna finds herself as the prime suspect.
Anna gets released on bail. And after some help from her therapist, she learns that her handyman, Buell, has been living in her attic. Fearing that he is the killer and poses a significant risk to Neil and Emma, Anna fights through her fear of the rain to save Neil and Emma.
However, once she is inside Neil’s house, she finds Neil dead and Buell injured. There comes the shocking realization that Emma is the killer. As Emma proves herself to be a violent psychopath, Anna stabs her in the chest, killing her. With the ordeal behind her, Anna reunites with Douglas, as she overcomes her fear of the rain.
A year after the events of The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window, and after having another baby, Anna flies to New York for a weekend away with Sloane. But on the flight, Anna believes that Passenger 2A has been murdered. Although, after claims there was no Passenger 2A on the flight, Anna begins to doubt her mind (once again). That is, however, until she finds an item that had belonged to Passenger 2A.
