This article, ”who is Neil,” contains spoilers regarding Netflix limited series The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window.
Who is Neil in The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window?
Neil is the attractive new neighbour, who moves into the house opposite Anna, with his daughter Emma. As he mourns the death of his wife, Neil decides to become a ventriloquist, as he believes that “laughter is the best medicine”. Although, according to Emma, his act was rubbish and is one of the reasons why Emma decides to kill her.
Seemingly unaware of his daughter’s murderous nature, he tries to protect Emma at any cost. He threatens Anna when he believes that she scares Emma. Although, on the other hand, Neil may be naive to people’s true motives/nature. Not only does he appear to be completely unaware that Emma is a serial killer, but he falls victim to Lisa and her attempts to con him out of money.
What does Neil do? (spoilers)
After he moves into a new house, he invites Anna around, and he, Anna, and Emma seem to have an enjoyable time. But after Anna believes that she has seen someone murder Lisa, Tom puts distance between him and Anna as he wants to protect Emma.
He grows even more annoyed by Anna when she begins to suspect him of murdering Lisa. And when Anna learns that Neil is a ventriloquist, he takes out a restraining order on her. When Lisa’s body gets found, SexyRexy gets arrested, and Neil and Anna appear to reconcile. However, after Anna gets arrested and becomes the prime suspect in Lisa’s murder, Neil threatens Anna. He shows her his gun and says he won’t be afraid to use it if Anna comes near him or Emma.
Although, in the end, the killer gets proven to be Emma. And in the final episode of The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window Emma stabs Neil in the throat. Whether he knew Emma had a dark side or that she was a murderer remains a mystery. Although, it’s safe to say that Neil was oblivious.
