Alright, I’m saying it. This K-Drama series is massively underrated, and it’s such a shame. I have enjoyed every single episode of this series.
Green Mothers’ Club season 1, episode 9 recap
Episode 9 opens with Eun-pyo enjoying a jog but thinking about the recent angry encounter with Chun-hui. She threatened to kill her. Chun-hui rings her while she’s on a jog and asks to see her. Eun-pyo meets Yun-ju, who is still upset and fears what Chun-hui is capable of. The other mothers remain neutral, but Eun-pyo reminds them that it’s not wise to spread ungrounded rumors. Eun-pyo also punishes the academy and asks them not to promote her gifted son.
Eun-pyo is banking on her son’s skills and studies with him past midnight, which concerns her husband. Eun-pyo gets defensive and says she has to remain grounded as their duties as parents. She wants to do the best for her son and protect him. The next day, Eun-pyo bumps into Chun-hui, and she tells her that her daughter is no match for her son after they learn their children are taking the same tests for gifted children.
Kim Yeong-mi is becoming suspicious of her husband after hearing he’d visit Jin-ha four times a week. But she’s reassured that Jin-ha didn’t have an affair with him because she was in love with Louis. However, her husband did visit her the day before she died. Yeong-mi looks through her husband’s artwork and sees a drawing of Jin-ha, lipstick stains on tissue, and her hair in a plastic bag. It’s dawning on her that the woman who committed suicide had an affair with her husband.
The mothers are told that their children went through a difficult test for a competition, and they should only put them on the programme if they are capable. Dong-seok continues to perform, and Chun-hui appears to be a defeated figure as one of her children is kicked out. Chun-hui confronts Eun-pyo in the car park and asks why she’s undermining her. Eun-pyo calls it payback.
The ending
As episode 9 ends, Chun-hui’s life seems to be spiraling somewhat. Her manipulative ways haven’t deterred a resilient Eun-pyo.
Man-su has drinks with Chun-hui. Chun-sui wonders if he “chased after” Yu-jun and reminds him how he used to say the sweetest things to her. She tells him he hasn’t changed and reminds Man-su that she betrayed him. Chun-hui calls herself a bad person and that her life is screwed — she admits she wanted to be a doctor’s wife, so she ditched him, but it didn’t turn out special. She apologizes and tells Man-su she will always be indebted to him. Afterward, she tells Man-su that she’s embarrassed to be like this in front of him and changes her tone. She tells him to get out of the taxi.
Late in the night, Chun-hui provides medication for a woman who is clearly very sick. The medication includes Profopol, and the woman looks tied to the bed. Suddenly, someone knocks on the door, and Chun-hui seems worried.
