Now and Then season 1, episode 7 recap

The voting opens for the election, with a huge media presence not only for the poll but for Ernesto’s “crimes”. As Marcos wakes up from his drunken night, the radio reports that there is only 2% between the candidates. Belinda questions Hugo. He reveals that after he left Daniela, just before she got murdered, he saw a black car with a teddy bear sticker on it. Sofia tells Marcos that there are flights available for Columbia the next day, but Marcos isn’t as keen on going so soon.

Isabel returns to pick up some work files and learns that not only has Sofia made herself at home, but she and Marcos appear to be going to Columbia. However, Isabel warns Sofia that what she has with Marcos isn’t real, and whatever she had with Marcos ended 20 years ago. When Flora visits the doctor, we learn that she skipped chemotherapy, and as a result, the doctor suggests that she has a mastectomy.

During “Then”, and as his wife is seriously ill in hospital, Sulivan learns that there’s a fingerprint in Jessica’s car that matches Marcos. So, Marcos flees and runs straight to Sofia and says that unless they run, the police will arrest him. And he asks if she is coming with him. Although at the last moment, Marcos decides not to flee. In “Now”, with similar scenes, Sofia rudely disturbs Marcos whilst he is with a patient, announces that she is leaving and asks if he is coming with her.

Whilst Pedro seems to be losing in the latest results, Ana remains sure that later votes, mainly the Latino vote, will work in Pedro’s favour. And when it comes to the last two hours before the result, Ernesto, now out of custody, arrives at the HQs. Whilst Ana threatens to call security, Pedro agrees to speak to Ernesto outside. Pedro tells Ernesto that if he wins, he will have Ernesto’s case dismissed. But if he loses, Ernesto tells Pedro to tell the truth, or he will. In “Then”, Pedro tells Ana that he killed Jessica. He now wants to go to the police.

Belinda searches through the police archive. Flora tells Hugo that she has been taken off the case. Whilst Hugo reveals that he knows Jessica was his biological mother. But he appears shocked when Flora tells him that Jessica was murdered, with Daniela likely murdered by the same people who were blackmailing her. Shortly afterwards, Hugo calls Sofia and wants her to tell him that it isn’t her who killed Daniela. Sofia asks Hugo not to say anything to the police about her. He claims that he hasn’t. But has he?

The ending

Pedro loses the election, with his rival John Brady winning 54% of the votes. As Pedro speaks to the press, Marcos drinks with his father, Sofia sneaks off somewhere, and Flora gets ready for an operation. As for Sofia, she grabs a stash of money and the one tape that Daniela took from the night of the crash. Belinda finds something big on the crash and tells Flora to contact her asap.

Pedro receives a video message that shows Ana returning home on the night of Daniela’s death. He confronts Ana about it, and although she initially denies it, she tells Pedro that no, she did not kill Daniela. It’s then shown that Ana went to Daniela and asked her to back out of the blackmail. And following harsh words, Ana smacked her in the nose, which now explains the blood. But as Ana left Daniela’s place, the black van with the teddy sticker was there. So, can we assume that whoever is in the black car is the one who kills Daniela?

Belinda tells Sullivan that she has found something, a missing page. And that, along with the missing tape, makes Belinda believe that she’s onto something. As she gets into Sulivan’s car, she notices that he has the teddy bear sticker. Before she can fully react, Sullivan knocks her out.
