Maggie season 1, episode 8 recap

Maggie agrees to be the entertainment as a psychic at the prom at Ben’s High School. I do not know about you, but my dance never had carnival games, but what do I know? The original entertainment Ben paid for, who can write on rice, has carpal tunnel syndrome, so he needs to fill the slot. He also invites Louise to help watch the students. She does not seem to be the most reliable extra set of eyes, but she needs her scenes in the episode, so here we go. Our favorite psychic sets up a table and performs her magic. She must sadly let one student down that he will not be having sex that night. She adds she will not be either, so he should not feel bad. This gives the kid an idea, and he shoots his shot, which Maggie easily deflects.

The episode has flashbacks to when Maggie and Louise went to their prom. Maggie would try to get people to like her by telling them who the prom king and queen would be and what parties would be broken up by police officers. This all backfires to various degrees. We also see where Angel was back in the day. Maggie’s psychic mentor is her guidance counselor. Angel used his psychic skills to help guide his students to their places in life. Angel comforts Maggie later because Louise has left the prom and is studying in the bathroom.

Angel tells her he sees her dancing with a great guy at a prom, but just not this one. The final flashback of Angel is the principal of the school attempting to force Angel to make a potential student choose Princeton and not art school. He refuses and tells the principal he is psychic. He then quits after telling his boss he will have four beautiful grandchildren and get arrested for driving under the influence.

The ending

Back in the present day, that kid who took his shot wearing jorts asks Maggie to dance, and she does. I mean, she has hit a low point in her life, so do not blame her. While dancing, Ben cuts in, and Angel’s vision are now complete. They had a dance, a lovely one, and had a moment together. Until it is interrupted by the kids who announce they found Mr. Morales’s prom photo on something called MySpace. (Kids, everyone had a friend named Tom on MySpace). Maggie sees that the picture is of Ben and Jessie. She leaves, looking hurt and unhappy.

Later, Maggie and Louise meet where they end their first prom — Red Robin. This is where they also made a pack to never lie about cheese because there is nothing more sacred than cheese fries. The show ends with Ben showing up at Maggie’s door. He wanted to ensure she was okay since she left without saying goodbye. She assures Ben she is fine. However, before he goes, he hands her the corsage she was never gifted in High School.
