Summary

Like the previous episode, it’s about 10 minutes too long, which slows down the pace. But in the lengthy episode, some family truths are shared, either proven or disproven by a popular fan theory, and an exciting ending hopefully picks the show up moving forward.

This recap of the HBO Max series Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin season 1, episode 7, “Carnival of Souls,” contains spoilers.

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin season 1, episode 7 recap

Imogen and Tabby discuss having to tell the other Liars about Rosewood. Just as Faran goes to school, her Mom, who is recovering at home and will be in a cast for six weeks, blames Faran for the crash. The Liars speculate why A is coming after them or why A killed Karen. Suspects they consider include; Angela’s father, Wes, and Sheriff Beasley. (But could it be someone completely different?)

After Kelly withdraws from dance class, Faran learns that A attacked Kelly. When Wes suggests showing a movie that Tabby doesn’t like; due to the sexual violence involved, she envisions attacking him with a pen. Meanwhile, Steve continues to harass Mouse, so she tracks down his LinkedIn account, “Bingo Dic*head”. Whilst looking after a baby doll for homework, Imogen loses her baby. However, she finds it soon after hidden in a cupboard with a note saying, “you’re a bad mother”.

Tabby gets attacked by A. Or does she? When A stabs her, A suddenly disappears. Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin next cuts to Tabby at the police station. Sheriff Beasley brings up Tyler, who has been missing since Tabby’s house party. Instead of reporting the rape, Tabby makes an excuse and leaves the station. Mouse “visits” Steve at work, but to Steve, that is “crossing the line”. When she threatens him, he reveals that he knows she was kidnapped as a child. (So, does this mean that the fan theory that Mouse’s mother kidnapped her is true?).

The ending

Mouse starts to wonder whether the man who tried to take her whilst she was with her two Moms was actually trying to rescue her. One of her Moms seems reluctant to let Mouse free to live her life, whilst her other Mom, Shirley, is more open to Mouse becoming independent. Whilst at the fun fair, Imogen turns down Chip, adding that she’s not ready but that she does like him. Elsewhere, two rival gangs square up, and it’s up to Noa to calm the situation.

Mouse’s Mom, Dee, receives a text that makes her fear for Mouse; but even when Shirley tries to convince her not to go, Dee goes regardless. But maybe Dee’s fears are proven, as when Mouse is in a hall of mirrors, she sees A. Luckily, Mouse escapes from A and bumps into Dee, who is outside. Dee decides to tell Mouse the truth; she tells Mouse that the man who tried to take her was her father. Dee adds that she was going to be a surrogate but kept Mouse for herself and made sure that the father had no involvement. After hearing the truth, Mouse reveals that it was her that sent the text to Dee.

Tabby decides that she wants to tell the other Liars about her attack, as she thinks that she might be able to catch him. But just as she and Imogen are about to reveal all, they all get sent an image of Tyler’s dead body.
