Summary

Never Have I Ever hits some melancholy notes as Devi remembers her father’s most prized possession, and her relationship progresses further with Des until it doesn’t.

John McEnroe is ecstatic about Devi’s new relationship, which is progressing nicely as we reach Never Have I Ever Season 3 Episode 8. Well, not because he finds Desi hot, but because this is the happiest Devi has felt in a long time. However, getting some alone time with Des has been an issue. The mothers are hovering over them even though they have no idea they are dating. As things usually do in sitcoms, an opportunity for Devi arrives at her feet.

Never Have I Ever Season 3 Episode 8 Recap

Mrs. Paloma gives her tickets to Shen Yun that she cannot use, four of which her mother, grandmother, Kalama, and Rhyah can use. As McEnroe says, Nalini is not dumb; she knows that her daughter has a schoolchild crush on Des but had no idea he reciprocated those feelings. So, Devi will host a game night with her squad and invite Des over, in the hopes of hooking up with him in her room while her family celebrates China’s rich cultural heritage.

The game night is on, and Fabiola is getting everyone to play Brain Cranker. It becomes apparent to Aneesa that they are not meant for each other. That’s when Des and his squad show up. One is a girl whom Fabiola has an instant connection with. Her name is Addison. The other is a guy only interested in either liquor, which they don’t have being a dry house, or Devi’s mother’s pills. But besides the giant box of tums she bought from Costco, they are out of luck. So, that is when Eleanor calls Trent to save the day, but the liquor store confiscated his fake identification. Des and his squad are to leave because the blonde pill popper guy is insistent. They go to another party; Paxton shows up with some alcohol with Trent. Des is noticeably jealous, especially after Devi tells Paxton he is her hero.

Everyone loves the party. Trent is drinking whiskey and Fruit Loops. As he says, it is like his boba. That is when they hear a racket in the garage from Parker yelling at his parents on the phone and smashing a box with an actual racket. It is the one her father bought that was his favorite tennis player, John McEnroe. She becomes upset, especially when Parker accidentally turns around and hits her in the arm with McEnroe’s racket. She runs upstairs, upset, and who is there to comfort her? Des, right? No, it is Paxton. And Des walks in on them with Parker, and he mistakes him whipping her mascara off her face as they are being intimate.

Also, Aneesa and Fabiola break up, but mutually. It is apparent Addison and Fabiola are into each other. When Addison leaves, Fabiola is noticeably flushed, and Aneesa tells her to give her the best kiss she has in her. Aneesa concludes that they have no chemistry and are better off as friends.

Never Have I Ever Season 3 Episode 8 Ending

When Devi revisits her psychiatrist, Dr. Ryan, we know why Devi is so upset about that racket. The fact that she forgot about that racket made her feel guilty because she had fewer waves of guilt. This has made her so sad, but Dr. Ryan convinces her that this is not a terrible thing. It means she is heading, which is what her father wants for her. She then visits Des and explains to him what happened and that she is not this super cool chick from school. In fact, she describes herself as a loser. What happens in the politest flirtations you will ever see? They both call each other hot. Politely, they both say thank you. They begin to kiss and undress when Rhyah walks in on them.
