The second season of Netflix’s Swedish noir, Snabba Cash, has arrived on the streamer a year after the first, dropping another six episodes of gang drama and financial mismanagement at the intersection of crime and start-up entrepreneurship – Season 3 of the series is still not confirmed — now, in 2024, fans of the show will be wondering if they will even get a continuation.
Still working from the basic premise of the source material by Jens Lapidus, the season is very much more of the same, sometimes to its detriment. However, the first outing found an audience and it’s likely the second will too, so it’s worth speculating about the future. Here’s everything we know.
Will there be a Snabba Cash Season 3?
January 27th, 2024 Update
At the time of writing Netflix hasn’t made an official decision on Snabba Cash, giving doubt on whether a third season is even possible.
Scandi Noir is an endlessly popular subgenre at the best of times, and global entities like Netflix will always target specific markets with tailored content. The U.S. will always represent the largest user base, but Europe is a big market, and shows developed and set there will likely be a key part of Netflix’s expansion strategy, even if the subgenre is already well-served in the thumbnails.
Creatively, the second season didn’t end on a major cliffhanger but certainly didn’t close the door either. There are three novels in the Stockholm Noir series written by criminal defense lawyer Jens Lapidus. I don’t know how closely the second season — or the first, honestly — adheres to the source material, but from the outside looking in, three books seems to suggest three seasons to me.
