The latest animation show on Disney+, Tales of the Jedi, shows Ahsoka at three key points in her life, but fans are wondering how old she is during these shorts. Ahsoka Tano is a fan favorite character among Star Wars fans, going through many struggles but never giving in to anger. Spoilers for Tales of the Jedi.

Ahsoka Tano is one of the most popular characters in Star Wars and has appeared in many shows and books, often as a main or secondary character. She’s getting her own show next year.

Tales of the Jedi shows more of Ahsoka, with three stories focusing on different periods of her life. “Life and Death” show Ahsoka at only a few days old, “Practice Makes Perfect” shows her training during the Clone Wars, and “Resolve shows her after Order 66. Fans have been asking why Ahsoka is in Tales of the Jedi and how old she is at different points in her life.

Why is Ahsoka in Tales of the Jedi?

Ahsoka is a character that has been explored a lot across Star Wars and one who has more story to tell. Fans have been asking why Tales of the Jedi even includes Ahsoka, given we know so much about her already.

Dave Filoni, creator of Tales of the Jedi, has spoken to Nerdist, explaining that the series started with him writing “Practice Makes Perfect” first as a way to explain to himself why Ahsoka survived Order 66. Lucasfilm liked what they saw and wanted more stories.

Filoni wanted to include someone else to compare Ahsoka to. “I thought about Dooku. I’ve always thought it was compelling that he was a Jedi.”

This comparison makes sense. Both left the Jedi Order after becoming disillusioned. The Order is failing those in need and is blind to these failings. But these shorts show Ahsoka rising above her fear and Dooku letting his fear control him. That’s what makes them different.

As mentioned, Ahsoka is getting her own live-action show, so her appearing here is a way for audiences to get interested in her character or animation more generally. After all, six shorts focusing on her and Dooku is much easier to watch compared to the daunting task of 133 episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars or 75 episodes of Star Wars: Rebels.

How old is Ahsoka in Tales of the Jedi?

Tales of the Jedi shows Ahsoka at three important points in her life.

The first short, titledLife and Death“, shows Ahsoka right after she is born, making her only a few days old. Ahsoka was born in 36 BBY, which is so far the earliest point in the timeline fans have seen on screen. The short itself shows Ahsoka’s mum, Pav-ti, taking Ahsoka on a hunt, where the little baby gets taken by an Akul, a tiger-like creature. Ahsoka manages to conquer her fear and tames the beast.

The next short, titled “Practice Makes Perfect,” shows Ahsoka across the Clone Wars. The majority of the training sequences take place in 22 BBY when Ahsoka is 14.  The Phase 1 clone armor, Obi-Wan’s mullet, and the fact that Ahsoka only wields one lightsaber shows this takes place early in the conflict, very soon after Anakin and Ahsoka meet for the first time on Christophsis.

A quick scene shows an older Ahsoka training on board a Venator-class Star Destroyer, this time wielding two lightsabers. The Clone Wars first shows Ahsoka having two lightsabers in the Mortis arc in 20 BBY, but because Ahsoka looks slightly older than when she appears in that arc, it’s likely this takes place very early in 19 BBY, which would make Ahsoka 17.

The final scene in this short happens during Order 66 when Rex and Ahsoka are escaping the Venator-class Star Destroyer Tribunal. Order 66 happens in 19 BBY, which makes Ahsoka 17.

“Resolve,” the final short, has been confirmed by Dave Filoni as being an adaption of the Ahsoka novel by E.K. Johnston. This would mean the events of this short take place during 18 BBY at the same time as the book, making Ahsoka 18.

How old was Ahsoka when she left the Jedi Order?

Ahsoka leaving the Jedi Order is one of the most well-known events that happens in The Clone Wars, with the final four episodes of season five showing why this happens. Ahsoka is framed for bombing the Jedi Temple and is expelled from the Jedi Order to be put on a Republic Military Tribunal.

When she’s cleared of her actions and the true culprit arrested, she’s invited to return to the Order, but she refuses. These events happen in 19 BBY, making Ahsoka 17.

What is the lifespan of a Togruta?

As Ahsoka has appeared in many Star Wars shows that take place several decades after the Clone Wars, The Mandalorian, and The Book Of Boba Fett to name two. This has caused many fans to ask how long Ahsoka’s species, Togruta, lives to see if it’s likely that Ahsoka would survive that long into the timeline.

On average, Togrutas live to be 94 years old. Ahsoka was born in 36 BBY, meaning if she survives an average Togrutan lifespan, she’ll live until 58 ABY. For context, The Rise of Skywalker, the last Star Wars film, takes place in 35 ABY, meaning Ahsoka could live through the rise and fall of the First Order and see Palpatine come back to life.

But this is unlikely, as Ahsoka is one of the voices of dead Jedi Rey hears in The Rise of Skywalker, implying she became one with the force at some point prior.

How many years older is Ahsoka than Luke?

Luke is another fan-favorite character, and during The Book Of Boba Fett, we saw the two characters meet. Ahsoka is several years older than Luke. Luke is born in the final year of the Clone Wars, in 19 BBY, meaning Ahsoka is 17 years older than Luke.

The Book of Boba Fett takes place in 9 ABY, making Luke 28. Ahsoka is 45.
