What is Dragon Age: Absolution based on?

Dragon Age: Absolution is a series based on the well-loved video game franchise Dragon Age which currently has three video games with a fourth in production. According to NetflixGeeked, the show will be set in Tevinter Imperium, which is an ancient human empire in the Dragon Age universe. It’s only ever been mentioned by name, so this will be its first major appearance.

Deadline has reported that the show will feature an ensemble cast of new characters inspired by the lore of the franchise, such as elves, mages, knights, Qunari (white-haired, metallic-skinned humanoids), Red Templars (a splinter group of Templars) and demons. Audiences will be able to see the continent of Thedas, the land where Dragon Age takes place. But the show will also introduce new characters to expand the lore.

The main character for the show, Miriam is a character created for the show, but the name has been used in the franchise before. In Dragon Age: Origins, players can find another character called Miriam in the village of Lothering, but other than that, the two are unrelated.

It’s likely the show will follow similar themes to the video games, which heavily focused on political intrigue, class struggles, and wartime battles.
