We discuss whether there will be a season 2 of the Netflix series Kaleidoscope and its renewed or canceled status.

Netflix released season 1 of their series Kaleidoscope on January 1, 2023. It was the first series the streaming platform released that they said you could watch any of the eight episodes in a non-linear order, and it would connect the dots. Of course, whether they accomplished that goal depends on the viewer’s experience.

Kaleidoscope follows the story of a group of individuals attempting the biggest heist ever. With that comes the real story behind the heist, whether or not this group of people can work together and whether or not they can get the job done. The series starred Giancarlo Esposito, Rufus Sewell, Jai Courtney, and Tati Gabrielle.

Throughout this journey, I was impressed with writer/creator Eric Garcia’s ability to put these pieces together in a way that made you invest in every aspect of the show. I loved how the characters were written, how he wrote each of their stakes, and even not being afraid of potentially killing someone’s favorite character. Kaleidoscope is a well-structured heist that leaves you on the edge of your seat.

Will there be a season 2 of Kaleidoscope – renewed or canceled status

Currently, there has been no announcement yet on whether or not Netflix will renew the series for a second season. However, I am sure they will look at the watch numbers and how they look over the course of the first and second week to see if it’ll warrant it.

Spoilers Ahead

Alright, are you ready for my theory of where we could go with a second season? At the end of the season, we saw Leo go to prison to visit Roger. It felt like the end of the chess matchup, but Leo wanted one guarantee from Roger that he wouldn’t go anywhere near Hannah in the future. Leo knew his days were numbered (we saw that literally), but he needed that assurance before dying. Roger said that he would never go after her.

Now the big question is, do we believe him? Because Roger stated that he got twenty years, but on good behavior, he would get out in eight years. Do we really think this guy, who is a thief, and a liar, amongst other things, isn’t going to chase down the woman who stole hundreds of millions of dollars from him? I don’t. I could see two things, either the FBI works with him to take down the triplets and/or Hannah, or he gets out and works on his own to get his money back.

My other idea is a lot more simple in Netflix letting Eric Garcia write a completely different heist story with a brand new cast of people. Because honestly, I like this idea better of them making this their own Ocean’s Trilogy or even like Knives Out. Either way, we, the audience, win in the long run. So which would you like to see if we get another season of the show? Let me know.
