Summary
Swarm continues to deliver the goods with some incredible world-building. Byron Bowers has a fun role in this one.
We recap the Prime Video series Swarm Season 1 Episode 3, “Taste,” which contains spoilers.
Through two episodes of Swarm, we have witnessed a unique character study in Dre (Dominique Fishback) that has pushed the boundaries of insanity. Dre’s body count is climbing as each episode passes, and only time will tell if it eventually catches up to her.
Swarm Season 1 Episode 3 Recap
The episode starts with iPhone footage of a girl talking about seeing Ni’Jah‘s concert and her incredible performance. Then, we shift to this more upscale house where a man walks in and hears some noises. Next, out of nowhere, Dre nails the man in the head with a sledgehammer. She asked the man who his favorite artist was and gave him a speech about how Ni’Jah was the best artist of all time. Finally, after further questioning, she beats him to death.
Who is Alice Dudley?
Alice is someone Dre stalking on Twitter who has said bad things about Ni’Jah. First, we see her find Alice’s tweets that call out Ni’Jah and her fanbase for being trolls. Then, we see an article where she accuses Ni’Jah of police brutality with her music. In her Twitter bio, she has “Make America Great Again,” While scrolling, someone posts Alice’s house online.
She heads into a gym where Alice is working out, and she is restricted from getting in, but someone helps her. After making a move, we see Dre get onto the elevator with Alice and hear the bee buzzing in her ear again. Throughout the episodes, we’ve noticed that Dre is getting text messages oddly from Marissa on her phone. Not sure what it means quite yet, but something has to be coming to a head with that. The text said, “follow the jacket,” as that person has a badge on their hip and might be able to use it to get what she needs.
After a poor attempt to break into George’s (the man in the elevator) house, the man catches her. While he tries to help patch up her knee, Dre hears the buzzing sound again. He makes her some food, but it’s all healthy, and she isn’t for it. George catches her eating some snacks and tells her it is okay. Moments later, they are both oddly shoving the food down their throats, which leads to them having sex. He asks her if she wants to come to his show and see what he does, and she is excited.

After his show, someone mentions an after-party, and George isn’t fond of going, but Dre wants to go. So next, she takes him around looking for a place, puts him in a refrigerator, and locks him inside. Then, we see her move to the after-party where Ni’Jah is. A few men try to approach her, but she has eyes for one thing and one thing only.
What happens when Dre meets Ni’Jah?
Dre bites Ni’Jah. The moment Dre has been waiting for her whole life is upon her. As she maneuvered through the party, she finally saw Ni’Jah dancing. We see a moment where she is biting on some food, but in an apparent daze, we hear a gasp. A lady approaches Dre and asks, “did you just bite Ni’Jah?” Dre freaks out and makes a run for it.
Swarm Season 1 Episode 3 Ending Explained
The episode ends with two men on a dock having a smoke when Dre runs out the back door and never looks back. Finally, one of the men looks at the other and says, “you know who that was? That was the chick from Love & Basketball.”
