Summary
Episode 5 is by far the weakest of the series. It felt like a filler episode that added little to the overall picture.
We recap the Prime Video series Swarm Season 1 Episode 5, “Girl, Bye,” which contains spoilers.
We’ve seen the bodies start to pile up in Swarm, and Dre (Dominique Fishback) is skirting away little by little, but it has to catch up to her at some point. The twisted reality of this show continues to raise the bar each week with the writing.
Swarm Season 1 Episode 5 Recap
The episode starts with someone watching a talk show about the infamous bite while Dre walks in to get her phone fixed. The phone number was deactivated by Harris Jackson, and Dre began to freak out. So she pulls out a little cash and demands they fix the phone. However, the clerk tells her it is getting too sketchy and tells Dre to leave.
Dre runs into an old friend of Marissa‘s at the mall as they sit down for lunch, and Dre shares storytime. She tells the story of meeting Ni’Jah‘s mom and hitting it off, followed by saying she met Ni’Jah over lunch and hugged her with tears coming down her face. Next, we see her arrive at the Jackson household. After digging through some stuff in the area, we see her get a ladder and climb up to one of the bedrooms to get into the house.
Who is Harris Jackson?
Harris Jackson is Marissa’s father. We find out that Harris had lost a little boy at a young age and now his oldest daughter. He was the man that had Dre kicked out of Marissa’s funeral because he blamed her death on her.

As she is inside the house, we see her go through the house looking for some stuff and find a gun inside one of the drawers. Then, we see her get comfortable after showering and fall asleep. The Jacksons arrive home, and Dre comes out of nowhere and holds the gun to Mrs. Jackson. She tells her that she wants her to turn the phone back on. However, Harris comes out of nowhere with a shotgun and tells her to put the gun down.
Swarm Season 1 Episode 5 Ending Explained
Harris begins to chastize Dre, blaming her for the death of Marissa. We hear him tell his wife to leave the room, and Dre makes a move to get out, and we see Harris shoot at her but miss. Dre locks herself in Marrisa’s room and begins to hear the bee buzzing again. One thing leads to another, with him breaking down the door, but Dre jumps out the window.
The episode ends with a visibly hurt Dre limping down the street, trying to avoid being shot by Harris, screaming, “he tried to kill me,” while Harris is crying out loud that he never wants to see her face again.
