Summary

The Power starts to lose its spark in “Baptism,” focusing on the lesser subplots and repetitive storylines. The series is still well-directed, but the plotting seems to be stalling somewhat, pushing forwards at a slower, frustrating pace.

We recap the Prime Video series The Power Season 1 Episode 7, “Baptism,” which contains spoilers.

As Urbandox gathers an army of new followers and certain governments plan to enslave their female population, those with the power start to train others, creating a movement in the process. “Baptism” follows the origins of these uprisings, as Roxy (Ria Zmitrowicz) and Allie (Halle Bush) teach others to feel empowered by their abilities.

The Power Season 1 Episode 7 Recap

Roxy’s training videos have made her into quite the celebrity. She meets with a group of females her age, and they pay her to teach them the skills to harness their powers. Roxy concentrates on hate and anger to unleash this dormant talent.

Things are looking up for Roxy at home as well. She’s finally been welcomed into Bernie’s house and business ventures. There’s even talk of Roxy gaining a share of Bernie’s fortune in his will. To test the waters, Roxy is sent on their next transaction, meeting with a supplier called Primrose (Phil Daniels).

During this negotiation, Roxy notices one of Bernie’s enemies swimming in the outdoor pool. She threatens this man, who owes Bernie money.

Roxy hovers her fingers over the water, handing out her final warning. She isn’t afraid to use her powers anymore.

Elsewhere, Jos is back at school after the incident with an Urbandox supporter. A man, called Paul Jordan, set himself on fire during one of Jos’ mother’s press conferences. The number of Urbandox members are skyrocketing, with millions of new followers joining the fight.

Why does Jos need security?

Jos is chaperoned by two security guards at all times now after the Paul Jordan incident. The events from the press conference weigh heavily on her mind. These disturbing sights caused great distress to Jos. She watches Roxy’s training videos to help her deal with this trauma and as a way of empowering the teen.

While practicing some fighting moves, Ryan makes a scene outside her window. He grabs her attention with a romantic gesture, creating a heart-shaped light display.

Jos’ brother Matty films this romantic gesture in the other room, shocked by what he is seeing. Ryan has inadvertently revealed his powers, but he wins over Jos nonetheless. She steps outside and kisses her boyfriend.

What is Tunde’s assignment?

Tunde is sent on another mission, this time to Carpathia, Moldova. He plans on speaking with Zoia, Tatiana’s sister. She is now a revolutionary leader who has built her own army of freedom fighters after escaping human trafficking.

After purchasing a gun, Tunde heads straight into Zoia’s base. He is interrogated, frisked, and then thrown into a waiting room. Here, he watches Zoia give birth to a healthy baby girl. Later, Tunde asks Zoia if he can interview her to provide her with a voice and a platform. Zoia asks Tunde to pass on a message to Tatiana in return for the interview.

What is Allie’s new skill?

In the other subplots, Tatiana is fitted with an ankle bracelet, and Allie/Eve starts her own mini-revolution. She learns to harness her powers in the water, realizing she can control others with this skill.

The Power Season 1 Episode 7 Ending Explained

Sister Veronica sees Allie using her powers in the water. She calls Allie a liar, having discovered her fake identity. Sister Veronica vows to find out the truth about Allie’s mysterious past. However, this doesn’t deter Allie, who continues to hone her skills. She saves a friend from committing suicide and then leads her followers into the water.

Referencing the episode’s title, Allie performs an impromptu baptism, connecting with her friends in the water. She forces them all to float on their backs, creating an enlightening moment for them.
