We recap the 2023 Paramount+ series Fatal Attraction Season 1 Episode 2, “The Movie In Your Mind,” which contains spoilers.

The pilot of Fatal Attraction laid the groundwork for who each of our principal characters is. As we look onward, Dan (Joshua Jackson) attempts to put the pieces together to prove his innocence with the help of an old friend while his daughter weighs what she wants from him.

Fatal Attraction Season 1 Episode 2 Recap

The episode begins with Dan and Alex mucking it up over dinner. One of the fellow attornies comes over to ask him why he is busting his balls on a case. Upon his leaving, Alex leaves him a note saying she went to another bar.

The two begin to peel back more layers of each other. Their dinner abruptly ends with sprinklers going off at the restaurant, leading them to head back to her place. Although he tries to leave, he quickly goes back to Alex’s place, where they have sex.

With Beth out of town, this affair continues with the duo heading to the beach only to return to her place for even more of a good time. After a weekend of fun, Beth and Ellen are back in town from their trip.

Present day, Ellen is talking to her therapist about her relationship with her father. She is uncertain how to feel or what to do with her relationship.

We quickly discover that one of the men on trial in Dan’s case is guilty, but Alex broke the news to him. They leave his office to head to the top of the building, where they begin to kiss again until she proceeds to go down on him.

Present day Dan is talking to Mike about finding his case file and where he can find it. Of course, being very good friends, he is more than open to helping him.

Mike heads over to talk with Ellen and Beth’s house. They sit down to discuss his plan to help Dan uncover the facts that he didn’t kill Alex. Beth questions why they help him but says Dan didn’t do it and hopes they can win this time.

We move back to when Mike meets Alex for the first time while he and Dan are at dinner together discussing a case. He begins questioning his relationship with Alex, and Dan gets super defensive.

What did Alex do to get Dan to stay?

After another time of sleeping together, Dan says that he should go, but Alex wants him to stay. He tries to tell her that he didn’t think this was how they were doing things (meaning anything more than a fling). Before he could go, she asked him, “How many do you think it would take?”

Of course, Dan is confused, but she reveals that she took multiple bottles of pills. He rushes her to the hospital and tells her they won’t be able to control what’s next.

How does Dan get Alex to reveal the truth?

Alex’s games quickly turn against her because he mentions there is no turning back once they go through those doors.

The police are called to them, revealing that if there are or aren’t any drugs in her system, either way, she will lose her job. He called her bluff, and she quickly revealed she just wanted to go home.

What happens to Ellen?

Ellen had been on her dad’s side of town, lurking around for him. While she starts to walk down the street and is listening to a podcast, she is hit by someone riding on a scooter.

Her dad isn’t too far off in the distance and sees what happened and comforts her, which puts this massive smile on her face.
