After a well-liked first season comprised mostly anime shorts, the second volume, which released somewhat predictably on May 4, 2023, collected work from animation studios all around the world to deliver a much more interesting and diverse collection of short films.

At the time of writing Disney has not renewed Star Wars: Visions for a third season, though it seems like an inevitability that they will at some point in the near future.
As mentioned above, this non-canon anthological format allows animators the freedom to explore the Star Wars license with a degree of creativity that isn’t afforded elsewhere. This is a vital way of keeping the franchise feeling fresh without having to take major risks with the main continuity.
Getting the opportunity to work on a Star Wars project is also an undoubtedly compelling prospect for animation studios who want to get their work seen and appreciated. There will be a near-limitless source of shorts to pack out many seasons of this series, and I can tell you for a fact that won’t have gone unnoticed over at the House of Mouse.
Viewership matters, of course, but let’s be frank — this is Star Wars, and what’s more it’s Star Wars at its most easily digestible and binge-able. Volume 2 will do major numbers, make no mistake.
