Summary

A decent installment was primarily memorable for its highly entertaining ending.

We recap the Netflix K-Drama series Doctor Cha Season 1 Episode 7, which contains spoilers.

With its fast-paced, layered storytelling, Doctor Cha episode seven certainly packed a lot into its hour runtime. Most memorable is the ending, which will now leave questions lingering on just how attached Roy Kim (Min Woo-hyuk) has gotten to Jeong-suk (Uhm Jung-hwa) and how In-ho will choose to react.

Doctor Cha Season 1 Episode 7 Recap

How does In-ho deal with I-rang’s dream?

After Ae-sim interrupts Roy Kim from telling Jeong-suk his important piece of information, the hospital resident has to face her husband regarding I-rang’s art school preparations.

Ultimately, In-ho opts to throw out all of his daughter’s belongings, devastating her. Furthermore, should Jeong-suk insist on enrolling I-rang into an art school, she needs to take care of every aspect of admission due to her husband’s desire for their youngest child to become a doctor.

Once finished repairing I-rang’s belongings, Jeong-suk confronts her husband about her discomfort around Seung-hi and the fact their daughter is friends with Eun-seo.

Naturally, this panics In-ho, so he goes straight to his mistress to ponder what actions can be taken, only to calm down upon hearing the two will “grow apart” once in different universities.

While Seung-hi continues to reflect on her secret life with In-ho, Jeong-suk apologizes to her husband, now believing he isn’t having an affair. But the conversation quickly devolves into one about I-rang’s future, with the professor requesting his wife be “objective” about their daughter’s (lack of exceptional) talents.

How does Jeong-suk fund I-rang’s art school admission?

As Ae-sim warns In-ho about Roy Kim’s potential interest in Jeong-suk, causing him to get paranoid, I-rang is deflated by her mother’s inability to punctually attend her admissions counseling appointment.

Elsewhere, the pregnant cancer patient stands firm in wanting to keep her child despite potential surgery complications. However, she has to deal with her mother discovering the baby’s father is an actor.

Much to I-rang’s delight, Jeong-suk funds her art school ambitions with a credit loan. Additionally, the first-year resident discovers she actually has a building under her name sometime before deducing Jung-min may well be So-ra’s boyfriend when she spots his belongings in her dorm.

Unfortunately, Jeong-suk isn’t able to confirm the truth about her son’s relationship, so she festers in frustration instead. Meanwhile, Seung-hi talks to Roy Kim about her affair with In-ho, practically encouraging him to expose it.

What happens after Seon-gyu’s surgery fails?

When filmed by a camera crew, In-ho runs into some issues. First, his poor rapport with patients is laid bare before his frozen shoulder becomes evident during a failed stoma reversal. To make matters worse, Roy Kim ends up being In-ho’s replacement for the TV broadcast.

Next, Hwang Seon-gyu is suspected of having severe depression following his failed stoma reversal, based on his sudden unwillingness to go about his usual life. Plus, the Crohn’s Disease patient has already expressed his “uncertainty” towards living during a conversation with Jeong-suk.

As In-ho’s jealousy towards Roy Kim rises, Seon-gyu is asked by his in-laws to “give up” on his marriage due to his wife having to look after him. Greatly upset, the Crohn’s Disease patient decides to commit suicide, describing his life as an “endless tunnel” in the note left behind for his partner.

Doctor Cha Season 1 Episode 7 Ending Explained

Despite Jeong-suk’s best efforts to dissuade Seon-gyu, he still decides to jump. Yet there are already air mats laid out, meaning when the resident falls with him, the two are left unscathed. Concurrently, Roy Kim and In-ho share a surprising embrace of relief before running back into their regular positions.

Then, to finish the episode, Roy Kim comfortingly hugs Jeong-suk, leaving both her and In-ho entirely shocked.
