In a funny and endearing episode of Ted Lasso, things go off the rails for some characters. However, the most crucial storyline has Isaac (Kola Bokinni) still giving Colin (Billy Harris) the cold shoulder. Will Colin come out to the team alone, or will Isaac do that for him?
Here is what happened in Ted Lasso Season 3, Episode 9:
- Ted asks to skip the press conference to attend a virtual parent/teacher meeting for his son’s school. Keeley suggests Roy do it, but he sends Coach Beard instead, who gets into an argument with the press over who was the better guitarist, Joe Walsh or Jimmy Page.
- Beard claims Joe Walsh is a better guitarist than Jimmy Page, whom he calls a “guitar stenographer on Adderall” and “Stairway to Heaven” a “glorified fingering exercise.” Rebecca reprimands Roy for not following her directions and tells him he needs to grab life for what he deserves.
- After texting Jack too many times, she texts Keeley that she will be in Argentina for a couple of months. Isaac won’t give Colin the time of day, not touching his hand for a fist bump or hands-in before a match.
- After an argument on the field, a fan yells a homophobic slur in the team’s direction, causing Isaac to charge the stands, resulting in a red card.
- Colin tells the team at halftime that he’s gay, and his fellow players and coaches support him warmly and without lip service. Richmond returns to win the match, with Colin assisting on both goals.
- Ted has Roy do the press conference and makes an eloquent point on mental health and not knowing what someone is going through in their lives. He makes this point to illustrate Isaac’s trouble controlling his anger.
- Nate goes on a guys’ night out with Rupert but leaves because he doesn’t prefer his lifestyle and finds someone to love him, Jade.
- The episode ends with Colin and Isaac reconciling. Colin tells Isaac, “I love you, boyo.” Colin comments to his friend that he cannot say it, can he? Isaac responds, “No, but you know I do, yeah?”

Predictions
- The more I watch Ted Lasso, I think Ted will be returning to the United States and reconciling with his ex-wife. This is evident after Ted and Michelle laughed on the virtual conference call.
- After Ted leaves, Roy will be the head coach of AFC Richmond, showing his leadership skills at today’s press conference.
- That doesn’t mean Coach Beard gets passed over; he is Ted’s wingman and will follow him wherever he goes.
- Keeley pushing Roy to do the press conference gives me the feeling she cares for him and wants him to succeed as someone who loves you pushes you out of your comfort zone.
- However, what does that mean for Jamie? The rumor is Keeley getting her spinoff if Ted Lasso ends this season. I know Jamie has grown, but I don’t see them ending up together.
- I predict Rupert will hit on Jade, and Nate will punch him, losing his job. The team has accepted Colin, but that doesn’t mean society will. When will it come out to the press? This only comes out when Crimm publishes his book, and he may be viewed as a traitor by the team.
