In “Bug Out,” Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) has the chance to reminisce about the good old days with her former fiance and work partner. Ben (Josh Dallas) and Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) find out about Daly’s (Frank Deal) return, who appears to have brought back more than just himself.
Manifest Season 4 Episode 12 Recap
We start the episode by catching up with our favorite Manic Pixie Murder Girl, Angelina. She’s now living in a homeless camp while waiting for a sign from God. Her entire left hand has a burn scar on it, and she reveals it started glowing again, just like Cal’s scar.
How is Mick allowed to leave the detention center?
At the detention center, Mick’s touching conversation with her dead-but-still-glowing Zeke is rudely interrupted by a doctor who injects a tracking chip into her arm. She then learns she’s been given a special day release to work with Jared on the Callings Unit.
And their first mission is to solve Joe’s calling, a fellow passenger who’s desperate to find his son. After all the passengers were detained, Joe’s son was placed in foster care, and the man has had no contact with him since.
Ben has to “Wake Him Up.”
Meanwhile, Ben has his own calling inside his cell. He’s in a trance-like state and repeatedly writes “Wake him up” on the wall.
Saanvi, who’s been helping a pregnant passenger named Polly hide her condition, agrees to stay with Ben while he finishes his wall art.
As it turns out, Ben was making a map of the detention center. The two try to follow the map but are nearly caught by guards during their unauthorized snooping session. Luckily, Vance finds them awkwardly kissing while hiding in a closet and agrees to distract the guards so they can finish their quest.
Unsurprisingly, the map leads the two straight to Daly’s room, where the returned pilot lies unconscious and heavily sedated. Saanvi pulls a Pulp Fiction move (it turns out it’s her favorite movie) and gives him an adrenaline shot to the heart, waking him.
Unfortunately, the two need to run back to their bunks for a surprise head count before Daly has a chance to tell them anything.
On the outside, Mick and Jared ask his brother for help identifying the city work businesses Joe saw in his calling. Eventually, the trail leads them to a jewelry shop, where they pretend to be investigating city code violations so they’ll have an excuse to look around.
How do Mick and Jared solve Joe’s calling?
After failing to find anything inside the jeweler, Mick gives Cal a ring, who decides to try out his new parlor trick of seeing other people’s callings. It works like a charm, and it turns out the calling wanted them to follow the electric wirings, leading Mick to a fake wall in the basement.
As soon as Mick starts asking questions about the fake wall, the shopkeeper attacks her, but Jared quickly overpowers him. Breaking the wall reveals that the jeweler was running a child trafficking ring. And one of the victims locked behind the wall was Charlie, Joe’s son.
Back at the detention center, Mick and Jared tell Joe about his son, and the man is even allowed to see the boy for the first time since he was imprisoned. Jared even pulled some strings and got Charlie placed in foster care with his brother’s family.

Manifest Season 4 Episode 12 Ending Explained
At the Stone House, Cal gets a calling taking him back on the plane, where he’s joined by none other than Angelina. While Cal is not exactly thrilled to learn she’s still alive, Angelina is too busy reiterating how important the connection between the two of them is.
Disturbed by the calling, Cal takes a taxi to the orchard. When he goes inside the barn, he opens a hatch and finds someone underneath the floor.
At the detention center, Jared interrupts one of Mick’s chats with her dead husband so the two can share a nice post-calling beer. Which was probably needed considering how difficult their day was.
What did Daly bring back from the Glow?
During a game of chess, Zaanvi and Ben discuss Daly and wonder what he brought back from the Glow with him. We then cut to Zimmer entering Daly’s room. When she orders the struggling man to “spit it out,” she probably expected him to talk. What she didn’t expect were the locusts that came out of his mouth. Yes, you’ve read that right. Locusts.
