Of course, we all know that Devi’s number one option was Princeton. Throughout the season, we saw Devi struggle with trying to get into the one college she wanted since she was a little kid.
In this season, we are introduced to several pivotal characters in getting Devi on track, including a Princeton Rep who gave her the advice of a lifetime that ended up helping her dreams come true.

Akshara is the Princeton Rep that heads to Sherman Oak High School to meet with potential future students of the college.
Why is Akshara important?
Akshara is the potential liaison that can help any kid get that acceptance letter from Princeton. Of course, with nothing but Princeton on her mind, Devi sees an opportunity to ease her way into Princeton by meeting and winning over Akshara on college day.
Upon arriving at the Princeton booth, Devi realizes something she believes will help her win Akshara. She is Indian, just like her. While the line is long, Devi takes the opportunity to cut in front of everyone and introduce herself to Akshara.
However, Akshara doesn’t like Devi’s rudeness and asks her to get in the back of the line. In typical Devi fashion, she does what she wants to the point that makes Akshara dismiss her.
As a result of this back and forth, Devi realizes that she might have hindered her chances of attending Princeton. After being waitlisted by Princeton, Devi calls Akshara to ask her if she can do anything to get into the college.
Akshara tells her that her essay was well-written, but it didn’t explain who Devi is or why she wanted to go to Princeton. These words of wisdom from Akshara proved to be important as Devi wrote an essay from her heart, leading to her getting into Princeton.

What is Janina Gavankar known for?
Janina Gavankar broke into acting in 2002 in the film Barbershop, and she returned for the sequel in, Barbershop 2: Back in Business in 2004.
While she was a bit of a journeywoman in the world of TV, having minor roles in shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Stargate: Atlantis, and NCIS, Gavankar broke out in the Showtime series The L Word that led her to roles in one of her most known roles as Luna Garza in True Blood.
A fun fact about Gavankar is that she played Iden Versio in the viral video game Star Wars Battlefront 2.
