Summary
“This Doesn’t Have to be a Tragedy” gets High Desert back on track right before the finale.

The walls are starting to close in on Peggy as we are one episode away from the finale of High Desert. From Nick wanting answers about Dona to Bruce struggling over his cheating wife and Denny causing one big mess, Peggy is about to lose her mind.
High Desert Season 1 Episode 7 Recap
The episode begins with Nick’s bodyguard sitting outside Peggy’s house. After getting off the phone with Bruce, Peggy reminisces with Denny by calling him and saying she still wants to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, as she continues, we see Denny robbing a store. Her calling has distracted him amid the robbery causing things to go awry. Regardless as things get wild, Denny is able to get out with the money in hand.
Carol’s daughter is doing some recon work for her mother and Peggy and flies a drone to find a dead body in the desert. So, Carol calls Peggy to tell her and freaks out. After the conversation, Peggy heads to see Nick at the spa. Funnily enough, Nick’s guard simultaneously tells her she is coming. He tells her that if she takes him to the body, and it is true, then he will give her the reward money.
What does Peggy take as a down payment from Nick?
In her typical negotiating ways, Peggy demands that Nick give her some money before taking them to the body. While Nick says he only has six hundred bucks, Peggy says that’s fine but needs more. Moments later, we see her giving Nick’s bird to Carol.
Peggy drops off the bird at Carol’s house and tells her how excited she is to bring Stuart and Dianne over to the office to show off how she has turned this PI thing into a legit job. Carol is excited for her.
Why does Bruce start shooting at cars at the office?
Upon arriving with Stuart and Dianne, she gives them a check for the mortgage. However, as they enter the office, William tells Peggy that Bruce found out his wife was cheating. Moments later, Bruce starts shooting his gun in the office at the cars outside.
Peggy arrives home, and Denny is in the house cooking food for her. She tells him about Kachel and how she saw her son on Facetime. Regardless of what she said earlier, Peggy tells him the ship has sailed and wants him out of the house. While sleeping, the henchman and his daughter arrive to threaten her because the money hasn’t been wired to him yet. The two begin to strip their house of everything.
How does Peggy pay off the henchman?
The henchman and his daughter took Peggy outside, where a commotion was inside a trailer. When they get inside, Denny and his guy are counting the money from the robbery earlier. Obviously, Peggy is pissed off, but she takes the opportunity to give them the 125 thousand on the table AND the trailer Denny was in to get her off the hook for now, as she still owes another 125 thousand.
High Desert Season 1 Episode 7 Ending Explained
Between yelling at Denny and getting stabbed by the henchman’s daughter, Peggy is stressed to the max. She takes some drugs and hallucinates seeing her mother, and as she is talking to her, Nick and his guy show up and tell her it’s time to go.
