Summary

With just the right amount of emotion and suspense, this solid mid-season finale perfectly sets up the second act.

We recap of the Crunchyroll anime series Dr. Stone Season 3 Episode 11, “With this First, a Miracle,” which contains spoilers.

With the location of the platinum now known, it seems Senku’s (Yusuke Kobayashi) next step is obvious. However, infiltrating this kingdom will likely be one of the most complicated feats they’ve attempted yet.

Not only is the kingdom heavily guarded, but there’s still no guarantee that retrieving the platinum will be as simple as entering his father’s ship and grabbing it. With so many unknown factors, having several spies on the inside is a strong advantage, as long as Amaryllis (Saori Onishi), Kohaku (Manami Numakura), and Ginro (Ayumu Murase) can continue this ruse without getting caught.

Dr. Stone Season 3 Episode 11 Recap

The episode opens with a flashback to Kohaku traveling through the forest to find the treasure left behind by Senku’s father, only to find it has been encased in concrete.

Even if she could crack the concrete, doing so would be too loud and likely attract attention.

In order to break the concrete and free the treasure, Senku sends Kohaku the materials needed to make plaster.

Once she has them, he instructs her to mix them in such a way that the plaster breaks the concrete as it expands.

What does Kohaku send back to Senku after accessing the treasure?

After accessing the treasure, Kohaku sends Senku what she initially thinks is sand, but it turns out to be gold dust and platinum collected for him by his father.

How did Senku’s father die?

After decades of gathering rare materials, Senku’s father, Byakuya, finally died after collapsing in the river during one of his expeditions.

Dr. Stone Season 3 Episode 11 Ending Explained

When the guards discover the treasure, Ibara heads to investigate its contents for himself. He recognizes some of the materials inside as the same ones he saw on the Perseus and quickly realizes they have an intruder in the kingdom.

Meanwhile, Senku begins crafting a machine that uses platinum to create unlimited amounts of revival fluid.

While it was upsetting to see the first half of the season end so soon, especially when it was really getting exciting, this episode had everything you could want in a mid-season finale. The sentimental moments were well done, illustrating just how significant Byakuya’s sacrifices were to Senku and the future. It made those scenes and his contribution feel that much more impactful.

The end of the episode felt perfect. It left the viewers with several interesting cliffhangers while still feeling a sense of closure and accomplishment. It was like closing the door on one chapter while teasing us with another, instead of leaving viewers with even more lingering questions.

With how well this season was done, I’m excited to see what happens when Dr. Stone Season 3 returns in October.
