Most people can’t remember what they had for breakfast yesterday, but not the protagonist of the Netflix K-Drama See You in My 19th Life, who has not only been reincarnated 19 times but remembers everything from her past lives too.
That’d be a lot of pressure at the best of times, but Ji-eum’s 19th life isn’t easy. Her father is an abusive gambling addict, and her mother is his victim. What’s more, she’s tormented by memories of her previous life, especially the fate of a boy named Moon Seo-ha.

This short-term goal gives some shape to the much-anticipated premiere episode while also working as an introduction to the characters and the semi-unique hook of Ji-eum’s recalled reincarnation.
Seo-ha was present for Ji-eum’s death in a car accident. She recalls that he survived the impact and is determined to find him to rekindle their relationship.
How does Ji-eum earn money?
Ji-eum earns money by performing in various talent shows and competitions with a wide range of abilities accumulated over various existences.
She quickly becomes known as a prodigy and saves up enough money from the variety shows to travel in search of Seo-ha. However, her lecherous family becomes a major obstacle in this endeavor.
Does Ji-eum meet with Seo-ha?
Eventually, Ji-eum escapes her life of confinement and travels to meet Ae Gyeong, a woman from her 17th life who owns a small café. In that life, Ji-eum was her uncle who raised Ae Gyeong. Reminding her of this is a tough sell, but she is privy to details nobody else would know.
Eventually, Ae Gyeong offers to become Ji-eum’s guardian. Ji-eum is able to track Seo-ha down and begin to learn things about him but he promptly leaves for Germany, and she can’t follow because of her financial limitations.
Seo-ha has a hearing disability and a very strained relationship with his father. While he’s away, Ji-eum relentlessly studies and works to better herself in her 19th life. When Seo-ha returns to Korea, we learn that he intends to restore his late mother’s hotel and legacy, much to the chagrin of his father.

The K-Drama’s premiere episode ends with Seo-ha requiring staff for his new project and, of course, coming across Ji-eum’s resume.
Of course, Ji-eum’s achievements for her age are very impressive on paper. She’s called in for an interview. However, she makes it very awkward indeed by immediately asking Seo-ha to date her.
