The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Episode 5 Recap

Mickey tells Lisa that the prosecutor pulled the deal before they could turn it down. He also mentions that they must talk to her ex-husband because it would be bad if the prosecution got him to testify against her. This flips a switch in Lisa, making her snap at Mickey to stop talking about him. She later tells Mickey that she emailed her ex-husband, telling him to call Mickey.

Will Jeff Trammel testify in favor of Lisa?

Jeff finally calls Mickey but tells him he wants nothing to do with the mess she is in as they didn’t have the best of marriages. Before getting off the phone, Mickey asked about the toolset, and he didn’t have an answer. He followed by saying he won’t testify in the case and to leave him alone.

The hearings for the prosecution to reveal their case to the judge have begun, and Mickey’s number one goal is to poke holes in it to get the DA to reveal what they have in their pocket. After striking down a secondhand account of Margo’s eyewitness testimony, the DA says they can have Margo Schafer appear in the morning.

Mickey cross-examines Miss Schafer, hitting a home run because of photos that Lorna took in the morning, causing her to question whether or not she actually saw Lisa that morning. The judge pulls the lawyers up to tell her that they can’t use Miss Schafer’s testimony, and if this is all the DA has, they will not go to trial. The DA asks to speak to her bosses before proceeding.

Outside the courtroom, Lisa admits to being where Miss Schafer said she was, and Mickey says he needs all the truth. She says that’s it.

What is the District Attorney’s smoking gun?

As Mickey predicted, once he forced the hand of the DA, they would show their cards. Once back in the courtroom, Andrea calls Hannah Gates, a forensic analyst, to the stand. Gates reveals on the stand that she analyzed a pair of gloves found at Lisa’s house and matched her DNA. They also found a blood stain on the glove that matched Mitchell Bondurant.
