Summary

An intriguing installment leaves room for plenty of audience questions.

This recap of the Netflix K-Drama series King the Land Season 1 Episode 12 contains spoilers.

Heightening the drama, this installment of King the Land ended by leaving the audience with more questions than answers. It’s a smart tactic, given there are only four episodes left, and it’ll no doubt help build excitement as we approach the show’s climax.

King the Land Season 1 Episode 12 Recap

Picking up where we left off, all truths end up uncovered. Gu Won’s identity as the Chairman’s son is revealed to Sa-rang’s friends, the pair’s relationship is confirmed, and Sang-sik is scolded for pretending to be a higher-up.

What happens when Gu Won opposes Hwa-ran?

As Sa-rang seamlessly relieves her friend’s worries regarding her dating life, Sang-sik waxes lyrical about the praise Gu Won is receiving for the staff-centered 100th-anniversary celebrations for King Hotel. Concurrently, Hwa-ran plans to restructure King Group, wanting it to reflect the economic recession through contingency management.

However, Hwa-ran faces opposition to her cost-cutting scheme from Gu Won. So, the Chairman simply suggests they both bring forth action plans, implying he’ll choose to go with the most suitable one. Elsewhere, Pyeong-hwa is told her divorce is the reason why promoting her to purser is difficult, but we see that her old marriage was actually one registered behind her back once she had “jokingly” signed a form.

What happens with Assemblyman Park?

When Sa-rang is lambasted by the influential Assemblyman Park, Hwa-ran orders her to be fired and asks for all remaining King the Land staff to be retrained. Fortunately, though, Gu Won intervenes in the nick of time, shielding his partner from any proper disciplinary action.

Moving on, the negative Assemblyman Park experience does bring some good for Sa-rang, as she is now fully welcomed by her colleagues at King the Land. So much so, they all drink together that night, confirming their newfound liking of the concierge, and expressing their gratitude towards Gu Won for all he does to benefit staff too (like giving out proper bonuses).

While Sa-rang and Gu Won share a night together, Hwa-ran tries to move Sang-sik onto her side and have him report on the Head Manager’s private and professional ongoings. Elsewhere, Da-eul continues to rue married life, where she is constantly ordered around.

What does Sa-rang do regarding Mi-so?

The next day, after frantically searching for a young guest’s toy rabbit, Sa-rang and Ok-ja discuss Mi-so. The concierge discovers her partner’s mother was a “brave, beautiful woman,” and even receives a picture of her from the elder.

So, when Sa-rang takes Gu Won for a walk to a beach the concierge would always come to when she missed her own mother, that picture is gifted to the rich heir. Naturally, this makes Gu Won tearful, as he contemplates whether to restart the search for his missing parent.

King the Land Season 1 Episode 12 Ending Explained

As Hwa-ran holds out against divorcing her husband and insists on sending her child back abroad, not wanting him to visit, Sa-rang gets called up to the “Dream Team.” This means the concierge gets to privately serve the Chairman directly, though it doesn’t all go to plan.

This is because Sa-rang witnesses the Chairman inform Gu Won he should marry Yu-ri “within the year,” news which results in the concierge dropping a plate. With this, the episode ends with all eyes on Sa-rang.
