Heartstopper Season 2 Episode 8 Recap
The episode begins with Nick posting on Instagram a picture of him and Charlie saying he is his boyfriend. When Nick arrives at Charlie’s, he is the happiest kid in the world now that they can go to prom together as boyfriends. Although Nick hesitates about how things will go at the school, Charlie tells him it will be great.
Do Elle and Tao get together?
Tao tells Elle that Nick just came out on Instagram, and they are both excited. As she prepares for the day, he looks at her and asks if she wants to be his girlfriend, and Elle says yes.
Tara is starting to get worried about Darcy as she didn’t show up to help set up for prom, nor is she answering any of her text messages. Tao, Elle, Charlie, and Nick see each other for the first time, all dolled up for prom, and everyone is so excited. As everyone enters the dance, Tara is still hunting for Darcy and is worried she isn’t going to show up.
Charlie tells Nick that he is ready to leave, and Nick is confused as this is something that he wanted. Charlie says that they lost sight of what they really are throughout the process of coming out. Nick says his mom is out for the night, and they could go to his place. Finally, Darcy shows up, but everyone tells her that Tara left to find her. Tara arrived at her mom’s, and this is when she found out she had run away.
After they finally reunite, Darcy tells Tara the truth about how she isn’t out to her family and is not sure she ever will be. Darcy said she wasn’t sure how to respond to Tara saying she loved her because she didn’t believe anyone could love her. The two embrace and Darcy tells her that she loves her too.
How does Charlie handle Nick asking about the bullying?
The two are riding a high, but when they get upstairs, Nick tells Charlie a story about a rugby summer camp. Nick follows by asking Charlie to tell him something and asks about the bullying. Charlie plays it off that things are perfect. Nick says they promised to be honest with each other. Finally, Charlie unloads the truth about the bullying and how it led to self-harm. Nick pleads with Charlie to promise to tell him if he ever feels like this again, and he says okay.
