The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Episode 7 Recap
What was in the letter left on Mickey’s doorstep?
A man in an office is taking out a piece of paper, scanning it on a copier, and putting it in an envelope. When Mickey returns home from work, that same envelope sits on his doorstep. The following morning he shows the letter to Legal Siegel. The letter is from the FBI stating that Alex Grant, a.k.a. Alex Kazarian, is a person of interest in an FBI investigation for construction fraud.
Detective Howard O’Brien is the first witness to testify for the prosecution. On the stand, he details how things fell into place leading to the arrest of Lisa Trammel. From the lying about running into Mitchell to the long history with him and how she lied to the cops when she was down at the station, the jury was eating up everything the Detective was saying.
Is the letter left at Mickey’s doorstep legit?
Cisco tries to use some resources to confirm that Alex Grant is an active target of the FBI. However, the FBI agent who signed his name at the bottom arrived at the meet-up telling him that he wouldn’t confirm or deny that it was his signature at the bottom. He also tells him that he and Mickey should stay out of it. Mickey used it in the case, forcing Andrea’s hand to confirm it with her office, and they did.
Detective O’Brien feeds right into Mickey’s hand allowing him to plant doubt that they didn’t have tunnel vision when it came to their investigation with Lisa Trammel.
After his win in the courtroom, Mickey visits Henry to inform him of what he needs to do next. He explains that he wants him to go back to David Weber and Alex Grant to say that Mickey has nothing against him and that they are painting Mitchell Bondurant as a bad person. Lorna calls Mickey to inform him that they got an amended witness list as Andrea is calling Felix Vasquez to testify on behalf of the prosecution.
Andrea asks Felix if Alex is under investigation by the FBI, and he says no, not technically. She makes him clarify, saying no, but Mickey takes advantage of that. He asks him to expand upon that and asks does the FBI typically send target letters to people they don’t plan to investigate, and Felix says no. He says the FBI “can’t commit” on potential ongoing investigations.
Who leaked the letter to Mickey?
FBI agent Felix Vasquez walks into the bathroom where Mickey is. Mickey says they might have a leak in their office because of the letter on his doorstep. While Felix doesn’t come out and say it was him, we see him adjust his wrist and see the same green watch from earlier in the episode when the man copied the file. And he closes by saying that the FBI is looking forward to hearing what you can learn from having Mr. Grant on the stand.
