Summary
Although the time jump could’ve been explained better, Alycia Debnam-Carey delivers an incredible performance as Alice in her first episode.

We have a big time jump in this episode of The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart. After a letter arrives, Alice decides to head off on the run to find something while June tries to figure out where she went and how to get her back.
The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart Season 1 Episode 4 Recap
The episode begins with a much older Alice flipping through some cabinets, looking for some sort of paperwork, storming out of the house, getting in the truck, and leaving. We see her awaken at a truck stop while June is back home trying to figure out what Alice was looking for in the papers and freaking out about her being missing.

We move to John and Sally at the doctor’s office, waiting for the results of their kids, when Sally gets a call from June and doesn’t answer. Finally, Sally calls her back and tells June that she hadn’t spoken to Alice as she made it clear she didn’t want anything to do with them. She also mentions that it had been 14 years (finally, a mention of the time jump).
We get a flashback of Alice and Oggi sitting by the lake, discussing their future. Oggi said he couldn’t return if they left the country. She tells him they should elope, get passports and run away together. He asks her if she is asking him to marry her, and she says yes, and he is excited.
Why did Alice run away?
Shortly after agreeing to marry Oggi, June breaks the news to Alice that someone called immigration and that Oggi had been deported. Of course, this shattered Alice, but later, Oggi had written Alice to tell her that he couldn’t believe she had broken up with him via email and that he had found someone else. Alice was upset because she knew June wrote the email leading her to run away.
The following morning Alice calls Ruby to find out if she knows about what June did or if she had anything to do with it. Ruby says she didn’t know, and Alice tells her to tell June that she knows everything and all the controlling things she did and is never coming back. Ruby asks Twig if she knows what June has done, and Twig just wants to know where Alice is.
Who is Charlie?
Sally calls June to snap at her, but Twig answers the phone. She begins to tell her that it was rude that she couldn’t even talk to Charlie for five minutes to hear that he has a clean bill of health and that if Alice calls, tell her that Charlie would like to meet her sister. Twig has this stunned look on her face that she didn’t know.
Even though it was suggested, we discover that Charlie is Agnes and Clem’s son, and June gave him to John and Sally.
The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart Season 1 Episode 4
When June got home, Twig snapped at her because Alice blamed herself for years for his death, but the entire time he was alive. June tells her she made the best decisions in the family’s interest, but Twig calls bullshit. The episode ends with Alice exploring the mountains while June cries at the bedside as everything collapses around her.
