What happened to Bobbi-Anne McLeod

What happened to Bobbi-Anne McLeod? We discuss the murder of the teenage girl. This article contains details some readers may find disturbing.

Bobbi-Anne Mcleod was a popular woman in the community of Plymouth. On November 20, 2021, she was murdered by Cody Ackland. This act was done without motive, and after Cody had killed Bobbi-Anne, he dumped her body to try and hide what he had done.

Her assault and murder shocked the local community and the rest of the U.K., leaving a gap in her family that will never be filled.

Who is Bobbi-Anne McLeod?

Bobbi-Anne Mcleod was an 18-year-old woman from Plymouth, U.K., who was tragically murdered by then-24-year-old Cody Ackland. She was waiting at a bus stop near her home when Cody assaulted her, abducted her, killed her, and then dumped the body.

Senior Crown Advocate Richard Posner, reading from a prepared statement on behalf of the family during the sentencing of Cody, said that Bobbi-Anne was a “beautiful girl” who “lit up” their lives, and life would “never be the same without her.” Bobbi-Anne had “so many life plans,” which had been taken away from her and her family.

“We can’t even contemplate a future without her in it. There will never be anything the justice system can impose that will ever come close to what he [Cody] deserves,” the statement said.

What did Cody Ackland do to Bobbi-Anne McLeod?

Cody Ackland was not known by the police or Bobbi-Anne before the murder. He seemed like a regular guy in a band and worked at a valeting department of a Plymouth garage. But he led a double life of being fascinated by serial killers. Police discovered that he had 3,216 images on his phone, many of a “disturbing and dark nature” and reminiscent of horror films. Some photos also depicted dismembered or dead bodies, post-mortem examinations, and murder scenes.

At 18:55 on November 20, 2021, Cody assaulted Bobbi-Anne at the Leigham bus stop with a claw hammer, striking her in the head. He then abducted her and drove her 19 miles to Bellever Forest car park, where Cody repeatedly attacked her before burning her handbag and other possessions.

Cody later put Bobbi-Anne’s body in the boot of his car and drove to Bovisand. He pulled into a layby on a remote lane and put her body in undergrowth. He then went to bed.

The day after, Cody threw the hammer he used into the River Tamar and got rid of his and Bobbi-Anne’s bloodstained clothes by putting them into a carrier bag and throwing them into nearby allotments in Coombe Lane.

How long did Cody Ackland get in prison?

On November 23, 2021, Cody handed himself into police, saying he had information on the Leigham disappearance. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and led police to Bobbi-Anne’s body, where detectives found it within undergrowth around 15ft down a steep incline halfway down the densely wooded lane at Bovisand.

On May 19, 2022, Cody Ackland was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 30 years and 190 days. The judge told Cody he may never be released.
