Police officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department would arrive at the two-story house at roughly 7 p.m. on August 16. A post on social media from the department explains how they heard the woman clearly in distress from a window in the abode.
With the door blocked up, the police would gain entry through the window using a ladder. They would find Jonna chained to the floor. A manacle around her neck was bolted to the floor of the room, and the shocking body cam footage would show the police entering and attempting to free the woman from the chain using a small hatchet.
Just two days later, an arrest was made. Police would track down Moises May, the thirty-six-year-old estranged boyfriend of the victim, who is also the father of their one-year-old daughter. In interviews with WDRB, Wilson would tell of her ordeal.
She had been contacted by May, who asked her to come and clean the house, offering payment for the service. Instead, when she arrived, he would subdue her and chain her to the floor. He would take her phone, and then, using a machete, he would cut her hair off, and then threaten to kill her.
