Who plays Mihawk in Netflix’s One Piece live-action series? We discuss the popular 2023 TV show and one of the key characters.
In an alternate Earth, the Golden Age of Pirates is all the rage, and the seas are host to numerous pirate crews that roam the globe and plunder their rewards.
Gold Roger leaves the mystical artifact One Piece behind after his death, and the charismatic and ambitious Monkey D Luffy dreams of the day he will be the pirate king. All he needs is finances, a boat, and a crew.
Luffy himself is imbued with mystical powers; he can stretch like silly putty, an ability he acquired after eating a Devil Fruit. He embarks on a journey to fulfill his destiny. That’s the simplest way to describe the premise of One Piece—a much-loved manga, anime, and now live-action adaptation.
In the past, Netflix and others have struggled with leaping from anime to live-action, but if the early reviews are anything to go by, this particular series may have just done the impossible.
