Summary

Another poorly executed installment, filled with cliched dialogue and many obvious TV tropes. The overacting and absurd plotting are really starting to distract now as well. A disappointing offering from Apple overall.

We recap the Apple TV+ series Invasion Season 2 Episode 3, “Fireworks,” which contains significant spoilers.

The third installment from the second season of Invasion, titled “Fireworks,” concentrates on three main storylines. Mitsuki (Shioli Kutsuna) continues to investigate the alien crash site in Brazil, leading to a monumental discovery.

Trevante (Shamier Anderson) finds further clues in a jail cell in Oklahoma. The Malik family traveled across the country with the Movement.

Invasion Season 2 Episode 3 Recap

We begin with Mitsuki’s subplot. She has been running further experiments on the alien life form and seems to be making the most progress so far, with no apparent side effects.

The crew informs Mitsuki that the alien ship has been emitting a strange signal intermittently. This signal seems to turn parts of the ship invisible, triggering its own cloaking technology.

Mitsuki inspects these strange signals closer and deduces that they are a distress call coming from the alien ship. She believes the aliens are communicating with their alien mothership.

Mitsuki has inadvertently discovered the alien’s SOS call.

Why does Mitsuki want revenge?

Psychiatrist Maya warns Mitsuki not to get too obsessed with the aliens. She has seen many scientists before her lose their minds in the pursuit of answers. Mitsuki confesses that she does blame herself for Hinata’s death after all. She wants to destroy the alien ships as revenge for her lover’s passing.

She informs Nikhil of their findings. After this historic discovery, Mitsuki can now hack into the alien’s mothership. She wants to use this to their advantage.

Mitsuki believes that she can reverse the alien’s cloaking technology and reveal their true locations in the process. This would make the alien ships easy targets to shoot down across the globe.

What is Nikhil and Mitsuki’s plan?

Nikhil relays this information back to President Benya. They want the global military to aim their nukes into the sky, ready for this uncloaking to occur. Once the alien ships are located, then they can destroy them with ease. Benya agrees to the plan.

Meanwhile, in British Colombia, the Malik family set off with the Movement. Aneesha still doesn’t trust this group of freedom fighters, but she is out of other options. She warns their leader, Clark, not to talk to her children, believing that they are a bad influence on them.

And in Oklahoma, Trevante wakes up the next morning after a night in a lonely cell. The secretary at the local station, called Rose, finds Trevante recovering from a rough night’s sleep.

He has been left on his own all night. The police seem to be understaffed and stretched thin since the invasion.

It becomes clear that Rose has been putting a lot of time and effort into searching for missing people in the detectives’ absence. There have been 37 disappearances in the local area, but nobody has time to investigate any of them.

Trevante offers to help if Rose will hand him his rucksack and notebook. Of course, Rose refuses to help him at first.

What is Trevante’s discovery?

From observing the missing person posters, Trevante has a brainwave. He believes there is a connection between the missing people and Caspar’s drawings. He eventually persuades Rose to retrieve his notebook to prove his point.

Inside, they see that the numbers in Caspar’s notebook match up with the date that Sheriff Tyson went missing. Trevante thinks the drawing looks a lot like the Sheriff’s badge as well. In the end, Rose lets Trevante go free.

Meanwhile, the Movement responded to a distress call on their way to the nearest refugee center. Aneesha doesn’t want to be involved in this rescue mission, but she finds herself out of options once again.

The gang stops by a ravine, where a family is trapped, surrounded by aliens. Luke goes in to help, and Aneesha chases after him, leaving poor Sarah on her own in the car.

Invasion Season 2 Episode 3 Ending Explained

This rescue mission coincides with the government’s plan of attack. The signal is emitted, and all of the alien crafts positioned around the globe start to appear in the sky. The nukes are deployed, and the alien ships are shot down. Seven ships in total are grounded. People around the world celebrate this major victory.

As the Movement members, Aneesha and Luke, exit the ravine, they find that Sarah has gone missing. Aneesha and the others call out her name, but Sarah does not respond.
