With an interesting twist thrown in for good measure, this episode of Destined with You did well in fleshing out some of the plot points. Going forward, though, it will be interesting to see just how much of a factor Jae-gyeong (Ha Jun) is in proceedings.

How does Jae-gyeong test Sin-yu and Hong-jo’s spell theory?
Picking up where we left off, Jae-gyeong finds it hard to believe Sin-yu and Hong-jo’s rationalization that the former’s romantic feelings have been caused by a spell. So, it’s proposed a new one is cast to test the validity of these claims.
As Hong-jo prepares to cast the “fair skin” spell, Jae-gyeong and Sin-yu have a reasonably stern conversation. The former admits he “regrets” rebuffing the civil servant, whereas the latter requests his friend ceases to intervene in anything he does with his crush if it’s proven spells work.
What other theories come up about Sin-yu’s feelings for Hong-jo?
In time, Hong-jo calls up Sin-yu and Jae-gyeong, and it’s judged that the “fair skin” spell didn’t work as intended. Thus, it’s theorized that the legal advisor might’ve had genuine feelings for the civil servant, given it’s now hard to say he was impacted by the love potion.
While Sin-yu starts buying into the idea his feelings for Hong-jo could’ve been caused by “neural coupling,” which had triggered confusion in his brain, Jae-gyeong informs the legal advisor that he wishes to be “straight” with the civil servant.

Following that, Sin-yu calls Hong-jo to the City Hall rooftop, upset that she had talked about his illness with someone else and ready to share with the civil servant the news of this “neural coupling.”
What happens with Joong-beom?
Next, Hong-jo continues to feel intimidated and uncomfortable around Joong-beom, who makes “unnecessary physical contact” with her. Elsewhere, Na-yeon lets slip of her relationship with Sin-yu to Gi-dong, meaning it soon becomes public domain at City Hall.
After a report was filed by Hong-jo, Sin-yu visits Joong-beom and warns him about the consequences of his actions, wanting him to bear it in mind should he wish to continue having a job for City Hall.
Once finished with a “comfort drink” alongside colleagues, Hong-jo seems to disclose that Sin-yu was someone she actually liked, as she proclaims Groot (her phone contact name for the legal advisor) was her “favorite.” Then, the civil servant becomes upset upon discovering that her name wasn’t saved on Sin-yu’s phone.

As Hong-jo happily volunteers at the dog shelter alongside Jae-gyeong, the latter confesses he wants to be someone who gives the civil servant “butterflies.” But she doesn’t blush at this declaration, something noted by both parties.
What happens when Na-yeon finds out about Sin-yu and Hong-jo?
Concurrently, Sin-yu is frustrated that his wedding date with Na-yeon was decided without his input but quickly finds himself with more pressing matters to deal with. After all, pictures of the legal advisor alongside Hong-jo had been sent to his fiancée.
Outside her house, Hong-jo is slapped by Na-yeon, who accuses her former friend of “playing dirty.” The civil servant is subsequently accused of purposefully getting involved with Na-yeon’s romantic partners, then told that she’s “nothing.”

While Na-yeon’s cheating with Hyun-seo is then revealed to the viewer, Hong-jo meets with Sin-yu. Here, the civil servant tries to return the wooden box and dress given to her by the legal advisor and discusses the slapping she received from his partner.
However, Sin-yu suddenly admits he’s being “swayed” by Hong-jo, and the episode ends with the legal advisor pulling the civil servant in for a kiss.
