An emotional episode of Wilderness reveals who Liz pushed off the cliff. After her body is found, Liv begins to unravel about the potential of her remembering what happened and realizes that she must devise a plan to protect herself.
Wilderness Season 1 Episode 3 Recap
The episode opens with Liv dreaming of when Will was preparing their house for Liv’s mom’s arrival. Liv is making fun of him because he was trying to ensure everything was perfect in the house. Will said it was necessary because he wanted to discuss something with her. After putting two and two together, Liv realizes he will ask permission to propose to her. Liv awakens and flashbacks to the night before, including pushing the person off the cliff in Episode 2.

She thought she was dreaming, but she reopened the door, and Will was still standing there. Liv runs into the bathroom and locks the door, and he apologizes through the door. The two have a productive conversation leading to them deciding to leave the hotel. As they prepare to check out, Will says to call him if anyone turns in a red jacket. Liv freaks out again because she is uncertain of what happened.
Outside, Garth is trying to get ahold of Cara and cannot reach her. He asked Liv and Will if they’d seen her, followed by asking if they would call her, and both calls went to voicemail. A decision is made to contact the authorities, and a search has begun for Cara. In their hunt, Liv finds the necklace she tore off before pushing the person with a jacket off the cliff.

The search for Cara was short-lived when they found her body. Although it was laid out that it looked like it would be Liv, this moment confirmed that the person in the woods that Liv pushed was Cara.
They rush Cara to the hospital, where she is wounded pretty severely. She awakens and doesn’t recall anything that happened. Garth begins to freak out at the doctors trying to get answers on whether or not she’s going remember everything. Once the doctor gets Garth to step outside, Liv apologizes to Cara, and she says it’s not your fault.

As Liv tries to get her life back in order, she heads out for a run. However, when she goes outside, we see Garth falling down crying to Will telling him “I’ve lost her”, confirming that Cara has passed away.
Wilderness Season 1 Episode 3 Ending Explained
Will finds Liv and is freaking out majorly. He tells her that Cara was “the one-night thing.” He said it was over and explained that SHE wanted to be a thing but he never wanted that. Will says he knows how this will play out and begs Liv to help him. She asked him how, and he said to be his alibi. Liv busts out in laughter.
The episode ends with the cops informing Liv and Will that the theory they are running with is Cara lost her way in the storm, slipped and fell, and died by misadventure. Will tells the officer what their night was like, and Liv confirms his story.
