Where was Surviving Summer Season 2 filmed? We discuss the popular Netflix series and the locations used by the production crew.

Summer Torres is a bit of a rebel. After another incident, Summer finds herself kicked out of her high-end private New York school and, as a result, is shipped off to Australia to live with family and friends in a sleepy surf-obsessed town.

Summer is, of course, not happy about being exported across the world, but of course, there is more to the town and its inhabitants than Summer first realizes, and slowly, she is won over by the different pace that life moves at, making new friends and falling in love with her new life.

Australia

There was never any doubt that the series would not be filmed on location, so filming took place in Australia. Although it sounds obvious, it was a definite requirement that Summer’s story in Australia would be filmed with authenticity, so the whole production team was based in Australia, giving the show the feel that it required.

Victoria, Australia

The show is set in Shorehaven, but this is a fictional location developed for the series. Reports indicate that Victoria was the primary shooting location for the series.

Variety Australia reports that the second season was filmed on the stunning beaches and the scenic Surf Coast along the Great Ocean Road on Wadawurrung Country in Victoria, Australia. Victoria is the second-smallest state, with a population of over 6.7 million, and Australia’s most densely populated state.

Bell’s Beach, Victoria

Although it seems a couple of beaches were used in the filming, Bell’s Beach looks as if it was one of them. The beach is a coastal locality and is well known as a surf beach, ideal for the show.

It was named after a businessman called William Bell, who owned much property in the area.

Jan Juc Beach, Victoria

Of course, plenty of beaches would be used in filming the show, and Jan Juc also seems to be featured in the production. Once again, this beach is nothing short of a paradise and is well-known as a location for lovers of all things surf.

New South Wales

With an entire season of TV to produce, plenty of other locations were used, and it looks like the coastal towns of Byron Bay and Kingscliff in New South Wales, Australia were also utilized.
