Summary
Invasion begins to ramp up the tension and pacing in “Down the Rabbit Hole,” with genuine emotion and some intriguing setups. Of course, the series isn’t without its usual, cliched dialogue and standard plot beats, but there is promise in the show’s interconnecting storylines.
It’s taken until Episode 7, but the separate storylines in Invasion Season 2 are finally starting to overlap. “Down the Rabbit Hole” finds Trevante (Shamier Anderson) and Rose (Nedra Marie Taylor) digging deeper into the military’s shady operations while the kids escape Paris with Caspar (Billy Barratt).
In Aneesha’s (Golshifteh Farahani) subplot, the Movement attacks another military base, looking for Sarah (Tara Moayedi).
Invasion Season 2 Episode 7 Recap
The episode starts with Trevante’s subplot. He finds Rose compiling a map of the last known whereabouts of all the missing people. Rose believes that the clues to all of these abductions can be found in Caspar’s notebook drawings.
She soon finds a number that she recognizes. It is Ben Shelton’s license plate. Ben’s nephews stole his truck before disappearing. They were the first locals to go missing. Rose thinks there is a connection.
Trevante observes one of Caspar’s spiral drawings and draws a spiral of his own on the map, using the coordinates to join the dots. The spiral ends in the center of the map, which happens to be the location of Ben’s farm.
The duo head there immediately. They discover that the farm has been taken over by the military and is heavily guarded. Trevante and Rose sneak into the base and find a huge, man-made hole in the ground. The soldiers gather around this hole, but Trevante and Rose are spotted before anything interesting takes place.
Who is Billy?
They run away from the soldiers and hide out with one of Rose’s allies. The fugitives are taken in by Marlene, who happens to be Rose’s sister-in-law. Rose confesses that she is looking for Billy, her husband, who has also gone missing. Marlene is Billy’s big sister. Rose wanted a divorce just before Billy went missing, and so she blames herself for his disappearance.
Meanwhile, in France, the kids wander the abandoned hospital with Caspar, searching for clues. Caspar seems to have lost his memories and is completely flummoxed by the whole situation. The kids quickly figured out that Caspar and a handful of other teens were being experimented upon. They find a map for another lab near Orleans. This is their next destination.
While roaming the streets, the gang comes across more aliens. Caspar struggles to use his powers to help the gang and actually leads them into the aliens’ path by mistake. They flee and regroup away from the city. Caspar feels like his powers are fading. Jamila plays him some meaningful music, and his memories come flooding back. The couple then kisses. Monty is clearly jealous.

In the third subplot, Aneesha and Clark spy on Camp Pierce. Of course, the other Movement members aren’t happy with Clark’s plans. They think the mission is futile. They are exhausted and clearly outnumbered. The Movement has gone from 40 fighters at the start of the invasion and is now down to just 12. Morale is low.
Aneesha makes a rousing speech and wins over the soldiers’ trust. They formulate a plan to break into the base. Luke works as a decoy, and Aneesha drives into the heart of the base. Then, the Movement members surround the soldiers, unarming them with ease.
They search the base for Sarah and question the corporal in charge. He refuses to reveal Sarah’s location, though. Aneesha is ready to torture the corporal, but someone finds the answers first. The paperwork shows that Sarah was moved the night before. She has been sent to the Oklahoma base, which is being called Project Idabel.
Invasion Season 2 Episode 7 Ending Explained
Funnily enough, Trevante is infiltrating that very base as we speak. Rose and Trevante create a roadblock, and Trevante hitches a ride into the base on a military vehicle. Trevante sees Sarah arriving and the alien object being transported inside the base.
The episode ends with a montage outlining the current statuses of the many characters. Rose reads a note from Trevante. Aneesha and the Movement head to Oklahoma. Caspar and Jamila sit together, listening to music, and Trevante enters the mysterious hole as night falls on the base.
