Summary
Things take a slightly more serious turn and something resembling a real theme emerges in probably the best episode of the season.
There’s always a party episode in Elite and other teen dramas, and it’s always followed by the hangover episode, or the “morning after the night before” episode, or whatever it is you’d prefer to call it. Episode 3 was the high – one of few that Elite Season 7 has managed to achieve thus far – and Episode 4, “Semicolon”, is the low.
I don’t mean that in terms of quality, necessarily – basically the entire season so far has been the low in that regard. But there’s a lot of shifting in relationships here, a lot of consequences for bad decision-making, and a lot more bad decision-making that’ll have consequences of its own down the line.
Spoilers follow.
Elite Season 7 Episode 4 Recap
We might as well begin with the title since it forms a fairly important theme around not just this episode but the season itself.
What does the semicolon tattoo mean?
I didn’t know this, but according to Certified Tattoo Studios, “The semicolon has become a symbol of hope for people who have battled depression, anxiety, addiction, and other mental health issues.”
This is obviously the tattoo that Eric has. He self-harms, he’s incredibly emotionally hot and cold, and he clearly has internal difficulties far more severe than he has let on. With the school app blowing up with increasingly severe messages – Sonia is still convinced they’re from Chloe – this theme of unseen trauma and struggles is beginning to coalesce into something genuinely quite meaningful.
What happens at the latest party?
As ever with Elite, the perceived solution to this and other issues is another party, this one thrown by Isa. And – again, as ever with Elite – it’s full of drama and terrible decision-making. Slightly adjacently, Didac is forced to hide when Isa’s father turns up and starts handing out bribes which are overheard by Luis, but the bulk of the drama is elsewhere.
There’s a lot of jealousy and suspicious glancing back and forth, especially between Raul and Sara and Joel and Omar, even though Omar is watching through a livestream. It’s Joel who’s streaming, and Omar can see Ivan in the background.
But Ivan’s doing okay. He tells Joel to make things right with Omar, dances with Chloe a little, says goodbye to Fikile, the foreign exchange student, and comforts Chloe after Eric reduces her to tears by claiming that what he wants from her is “someone as messed up as he is.”
The party ends after drug dealers show up followed shortly by the police, who arrest everyone. The implication is that Pau set this up.

Elite Season 7 Episode 4 Ending Explained
All roads converge on Ivan at the end of the episode.
After Omar gets home, he and Joel have an argument during which he says that Joel should go to Ivan. At around the same time, Carmen, following an argument with Chloe – who confirms to Sonia she is the one sending the messages on the app – about her only being after Cruz’s money, also goes to see Ivan.
The women get there first, but Joel is more forceful. He basically pushes his way inside and kisses Ivan; Chloe and Carmen make themselves scarce as the two boys sleep together.
To cap things off, Dalmar finds Omar unconscious, having evidently tried to commit suicide.
