Summary
In time for the finale, John and Jane’s relationship sours while the spy couple also receives their third and final failure. Funnily enough, neither John nor Jane seem to understand what may happen after receiving three fails.
This penultimate episode of Mr. & Mrs Smith Season 1 introduces Bev (Michaela Coel), John’s emotional affair partner. The spy marriage is all but over, and our couple even receive their final fail. Not that it matters to them, as John and Jane seem to have had enough of their jobs, the company, and, more importantly, each other. While predictable, Episode 7 is one of the more engaging in the series.

The romance between John and Jane has all but died out, and they’re even sleeping in separate rooms. After John leaves the house for the day, Jane heads to the apartment of a woman named Bev.
Is John cheating on Jane?
Jane pulls a gun on the woman because she wants answers. It seems John has been hanging out with her for the past month. Even worse, John told this other lady the truth about his job as a spy. He also talked a lot about his issues with Jane and their relationship. Poor Jane can’t hold in her tears when she hears that John even wonders if they’re compatible.
Their conversation is interrupted by John’s arrival. Jane hides inside the house and demands Bev keep quiet about her presence.
When John walks him, he and his ladyfriend sit down to enjoy some ice cream and watch a 70s movie. It doesn’t take long before he mentions Jane and Bev starts fighting both of them. The woman manages to escape, but Jane has to stay behind and save her husband from imminent decapitation.
Thankfully, John did place a tracker on his lady friend during one of their frolicking sessions. Our couple of spies follow Bev down the underground and chase her through one of the trains. She manages to outsmart them and escapes once more.
This wouldn’t normally be a problem, as John does have a tracker on the target. However, his phone battery died at the most inconvenient of moments. We find out that he had over a month to kill Bev, but kept stalling until Hihi had Jane intervene. He admits to spending so much time with her because he wanted to learn more about the Company and how the spy organizations work.
John and Jane walk into a store where they coerce the owner into allowing them to charge his phone. The pair aren’t exactly on the best terms, and Jane is jealous of John’s emotional affair with Bev.
We find out that John didn’t have sex with the woman during his month-long mission because he felt guilty about cheating on Jane. On the other hand, Jane claims she did sleep with a couple of targets during missions.
How does Bev escape John and Jane?
The Smiths track Bev to the restaurant where they had their very first mission. John admits to having told the woman about it, meaning she led the Smiths there as a joke. She also removed the tracker and left it on a postcard glued to the restaurant’s door.
With the mission failed and Jane feeling sick with the flu, the pair head home. As the nice husband he is, John makes his wife chicken soup while video-calling his mom.
After he gives Jane her soup, John tells Hihi about Bev’s escape. We find out it was Hihi who instructed Jane to go to Bev’s apartment, and they were also the ones who told John where she was. Is Hihi playing them against each other?
How does Mr. and Mrs. Smith Season 1 Episode 7 end?
After John tells Hihi about the third mission failure, they send an ominous message asking them to wait for further instructions. As far as John is concerned, it doesn’t matter. He’s ready to quit the company and tells Jane he’s moving out. Angered, Jane breaks the laptop.
The following day, Jane receives a package that contains a brand-new laptop.
