Maxine continues to improve her looks in an attempt to dress like Evelyn. This means her spending habits are improving, but she doesn’t have the money to keep up. We see her continue to take valuable jewelry from Norma and pawn it off.

What does Maxine need to stay at the Palm Royale?

Maxine returns to the Palm Royale and asks Robert to make her a drink. He asks if she plans to stay for the summer, and she says yes. Robert explains that her first month is a trial month, and she needs a second sponsor and the money to get in for a second month.

Everyone is hanging out at the pool when Perry, Dinah’s husband, arrives. He chats up Maxine about his relationship with her husband, Douglas. Perry invites Maxine to play tennis with him and Dinah but tries to say she doesn’t have a third. He spots Eduardo (the man Dinah was having an affair with) and invites him to play doubles with them.

Maxine is visiting Norma to check on her. She falls asleep and dreams about killing her. She leaves to find something to donate to the charity function later and sees Linda leaving a room. Linda says she was visiting her dad, which Maxine realizes was Evelyn’s husband’s room. Linda tells Maxine that Evelyn Rollins is her stepmother, and Maxine realizes she could use Linda as an in.

Maxine heads to Norma’s house to steal more goods for the auction later that night. However, she is startled by Robert, who pulls a gun on her and questions why she is there. She pushes back, wondering why he is there, and Robert tells her she is looking after Norma and Norma’s house.
