Summary

A new highwayman has arrived in town to threaten Dick Turpin in Episode 5 of The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick TurpinTurpin met his match in Tommy Silversides and was unsure how to fend off the newcomer who promised to take him down and steal his spot. The penultimate episode of Season 1 develops some high stakes leading into the finale.

Who is the new highwayman in town?

Dick Turpin is off signing pamphlets, and Craig the Warlock sold a carriage ride with the promise of being robbed by Turpin. However, the rest of The Essex Gang was there, and the riders were very upset. As they were complaining about wanting to be robbed by someone famous, a mystery man named Tommy Silversides came in and took all the gold, introducing himself by saying he was taking over the town and they needed to let Dick know.

At the pamphlet signing, Dick’s dad arrives, and Dick is happy, but he credits Benny, the man he hired to replace him. The Essex Gang storms in to let Dick know that Silversides is in town and says he is taking over. Moments later, Silversides storms into the bar to introduce himself (via song) to Turpin. Silversides challenges Turpin to a dual, and the loser must leave the town.

Nell attempts to teach Dick how to shoot a gun, but he doesn’t want to resort to that. She tries to explain that if he doesn’t learn to shoot, Tommy will kill him and take over the Essex Gang. As Dick is set to shoot the gun, Nell and Dick have been kidnapped.

What is Nell’s mom?

Lady Helen is who had Dick Turpin kidnapped, and she is upset that he stole her gold. Turpin says he doesn’t have time for this as he has a duel to get to. However, Lady Helen says, “That’s not why you’re here”, and brings in Nell, who looks at her and says, simply, “Mommy.”

Moose and Honesty plan to get Tommy Silversides drunk so that he misses the duel. This doesn’t go as planned as Tommy figured out what they were doing. Before he goes, he shows them the pamphlets that Dick is on the cover of and says if he were in charge, they would be on the cover with him.

Lady Helen shows Dick around her grounds highlighting the breeding ground of future criminals they are raising. She wants Dick to join the group, and the duo would make him a legend. Dick turns Lady Helen’s offer down, which doesn’t make her happy. She locks up Turpin and says that when he misses his duel, she and Tommy Silversides will work together.
