It has been a long time since the first season of the animated fantasy Blood of Zeus dropped on Netflix, and after some substantial delays, Season 2 isn’t far away. Season 1 premiered on October 27th, 2020, and even though the second season was ordered, it has taken a while to get here.

Blood of Zeus Season 2 will be released globally on Netflix on May 15th, 2024. With a bit of luck, there will be no more setbacks.
The Delay Of Season 2 Is A Mystery
While it has been an unusually long wait for the second season, there has been no official reason behind the delay. However, what we can assume is that animated shows take a long time to produce, and the studio behind the show, Powerhouse Animation, has been very busy on other projects, including Castlevania and Masters of the Universe: Revelation.
With this in mind, it might just be a case of a heavy workload and a desire to produce the best possible product, that has held things up. It can be frustrating to wait for something we would love to see, but if the endgame is a well-produced show, then it will have been worth the wait.
Blood of Zeus First Look Clip Thoughts
A fifty-second clip (above) of the new season was aired to excited fans at Geek Weeked ’23 in November 2023. This has been followed up with a new trailer that adds more footage, taking the runtime up to 2 and a half minutes.
The animation looks strong and the story certainly seems to be moving forward. The preview is not exactly a trailer but is just a scene from the show, but it gives us a good insight into the work that has been going on in the show’s absence. It seems as if fans of the series are over the moon that the story is continuing if YouTube comments are anything to go by, and despite the long wait, the fan base is still there and eager to watch.
When did Blood of Zeus Season 2 finish production?
It would not be until March 5th, 2024 that the show would be completed. After such a long wait, we assume that the animation company waited until everything was done before announcing the completion of the project.
Way back in 2020, an article in the Observer revealed that the showrunners were aiming for five seasons of the show, an ambitious target, but with Season 2 arriving shortly, and rumors swirling about the third season having already been commissioned, we can only hope that work has already started on the next run of episodes. Hopefully, it won’t be another three-year wait to see what happens next.
