Mileage may vary, but I think it has taken until Episode 9 for The Last Frontier to figure out the mode it operates best in.

The Chair Company isn’t getting worse in any meaningful sense, but I think Episode 6, “Happy Birthday, a friend”, is the point where it has reached the outer limit of how much great throwaways and weird juxtapositions alone can sustain it.

What I liked about Talamasca: The Secret Order initially is that, despite being set in a world of vampires, witches, and other supernatural ephemera, it presented itself as a pretty straight-up espionage thriller.
