Faye Richardson is grating on our beloved characters. Now that Louis (Rick Hoffman) has been demoted, Episode 3, “Windmills” sees Harvey wanting to take her on by using a client to undermine one of hers. He uses the “common enemy approach”.
Meanwhile, Louis is feeling embarrassed by his demotion and expresses his frustration to Sheila. His partner asks if he wanted the job in the first place and he argues he was getting good at it. I felt like this was a flawed response from Louis — your firm is under temporary control by the New York Bar under your leadership. Louis’ head is turned in Episode 3, as he is offered his dream job, a judgeship.
And with all the commotion, Donna is in La La Land with her new romance with Harvey, but she is worried that he will always take her side while at work. The couple is going through the adorable new relationship phase, where s*** is simple due to raging hormones. Harvey seems like a changed man, quoting Oprah and suggesting they have one date night a week to talk about anything but work.
Faye gets ultra offensive in “Windmills”, asking Donna to be her secretary for a few days. Donna is understandably offended, having done secretarial work for many years under Harvey to rise to COO finally. She agrees, for now, choosing when to pick her battles. Harvey wants to clear his head as it is clouded by fumes, and decides to go on a date with Donna to find another way to take down Faye.
Later on, in “Windmills” Katrina has a problem with one of her colleagues Susan, who offers to help her on one of the cases. When Katrina drops her for crossing the line, Susan threatens to tell Faye about her slight romance with Brian, with the reason why he left. Katrina shows her strength, and plants Susan in front of Susan to call her bluff — Susan says nothing. Aren’t Susans annoying?
As Suits Season 9, Episode 3, “Windmills” ends, Louis gets insecure that Donna and Harvey don’t have his back after witnessing them on their date. Harvey reassures him that is not the case, and Donna adds a little love to the scenario and asks Shiela and Louis if they want a “girl’s night”. Louis is more excited than both of them. Harvey realizes he has a bigger job on his hands, as Faye refuses to stand down despite the complexities he’s created with their clients.
