Lucifer season 6, episode 6 recap

Lucifer speculates to Linda whether he should be God if he is unable to overcome Rory’s feelings of abandonment. Meanwhile, Amenadiel investigates his first murder. The problem is, the leading detective is Officer Reiben (Brian Oblak). For those that don’t remember, Officer Reiben was very hostile and aggressive when he arrested Amenadiel’s friend Caleb Mayfield. Seemingly no less of an arsehole, Reiben instantly dismisses Amenadiel’s thoughts on the current crime.

Wanting to impress Rory, Lucifer decorates his flat with Christmas decorations, adding that he has presents for all the Christmases that he’ll miss. Amenadiel learns from Chloe that Harris, who may or may not like coffee ice cream, got offered a detective seat but turned it down. Investigating the murder, Amenadiel questions a nosy neighbor. He learns the murder victim, Kevin, had a girlfriend called Michaela. Following a heartfelt chat with Dan, Amenadiel decides he will fight corrupt cops, such as Reiben.

Amenadiel learns that Reiben was given a promotion. That is in spite of several complaints. Shortly afterward, Reiben calls Amenadiel into the conference room. He remembers Amenadiel and claims to regret the way in which they first met. Reiben follows it up by thanking Amenadiel. He claims Amenadiel’s detective work has led them to the killer, Michaela. Reiben claims that as Michaela was involved with a gang (10 years ago), she must be the killer.

After Lucifer holds a party for Rory, she connects with Maze. Even Lucifer singing “You Got It” is unable to sway her opinion. After asking what she wants, Rory tells Lucifer she wants him to leave her alone. Amenadiel and Harris meet up with Dr. Lamotte. She runs a free clinic and saw Michaela the day before, and she had a gunshot wound. Using the slug that was left behind, Ella is able to match the bullet to the gun that killed Kevin.

The Ending

Michaela calls Harris as she flees from the killer. She asks Harris and Amenadiel to meet her at the cemetery. She’s clearly traumatized by Kevin’s death. After shots get fired, the killer surrenders. Despite this, the police, namely Reiben, try to arrest Michaela even though she’s innocent. Amenadiel stands in front of Michaela and prevents the police from causing her more harm. Later that night, Amenadiel gets informed that his evidence has cleared Michaela’s name. Harris maintains that the reason they must continue with their jobs is to protect people from those like Reiben.

The sixth episode of Lucifer season 6 ends with Lucifer and Rory as they sing “Bridge Over Troubled Water”.
