Maid Season 1 Episode 3 Recap

At work, Alex has a new work partner, and the state of the house she cleans is enough to make Alex vomit. On her way home, Alex finds that Sean is in a bar, not looking after Maddy as he was supposed to be. Later, Alex applies for SNAP for her and Maddy, with Paula by her side. Although, Paula is more interested in the prospect of getting her own show at Hummingbird. Visiting a halfway house that could be Alex’s new home, Paula thinks it’s lovely whilst Alex continues to press her to sign a letter that would help prove that Alex is a good mother. But after lunch with Paula and Basil, an argument develops (mainly Basil’s fault), and Alex calls Paula the shittest mother on the planet. Therefore, the form doesn’t get signed.

Sean hasn’t turned up for work in two days, nor has Doreen seen him, Eventually, Alex finds him. Hungover from the effects of drink and drugs, he sits beside the river. Alex sits next to him as he remembers the fun times that they had; “I’m sea glass, I’m not trash,” he claims. He asks when she stopped liking him, to which Alex responds that Maddy is a big responsibility and that it can’t be fun all of the time. Alex takes him home, to which Doreen describes him as, “Just like his daddy, a bird that never flew”.

Before Alex heads into court, Sean stops her and informs her that he won’t be applying for full custody. Instead, he will agree on shared custody. He claims that he will struggle to stay sober if he has Maddy all of the time. Episode 3 of Maid ends with Alex showing Maddy around their new house. Inside they find that Paula has painted a wall for Maddy’s bedroom.

Maid Season 1 Episode 4 Recap

After Nate provides Alex with a car, he invites her over for thanksgiving. But she claims that she will be working for thanksgiving so will be unable to attend. She later buys some groceries with the little amount of money that she has. When Sean picks up Maddy, he’s angry that he is the one who has to buy her snacks and that she hasn’t had a nap.

Forming a small friendship with Regina, Alex uses the WiFi whilst Regina allows her to work on Thanksgiving since Alex will not charge a holiday rate. Alex attempts to go on a dating app but stops when she comes across Sean’s profile.

After Sean cuts short her thanksgiving call to Maddy, Alex cleans Regina’s house. She drinks some of Regina’s wine, tries on her clothes, and invites a Tinder date, Wayne, over. Alex, however, claims that the house belongs to her father and stepmother. You just know that this is a big mistake.

As Alex chats with Wayne, as you would guess, Regina returns. Regina realizes that Alex has had some wine, but she is too miserable to care. Regina tells Alex that she is unable to have kids, even after spending $300,000 attempting to.

But to help improve her failing marriage, she and her husband found a surrogate who is now pregnant with Regina’s son. But the process has left Regina feeling alone and now, her husband James has informed Regina that he wants a divorce. Regina advises Alex to never let anyone take advantage of her.

Alex starts writing Confessions of a Maid, where she documents that even the wealthy can be very miserable. Later, after she picks up Maddy she contacts Wayne and tells him the truth about who she really is.
