Who is Buell in The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window?
Buell is one of the most mysterious characters of The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window. Although he is in the background for most of the series, he actually has one of the most violent and shocking backgrounds.
Having first met Douglas way before he met Anna, Buell is one of Douglas’s past patients. He became a patient after he murdered all of his family. Although, this remains hidden from Anna and many of the other characters. Whilst he has clear violent tendencies, this no longer seems to be an issue for Buell, as, during the series, Buell appears more reserved and helpful towards others as, at times, he chooses to take a back seat rather than involve himself in conflict
Throughout the series, constant noises are coming from Anna’s attic, a fact that Anna puts down to the house being old and creaky. In reality, Buell is living in the attic. Yet, it appears that his reasons came from the heart. And he claims that he didn’t want to see Anna alone in such a big house.
What does Buell do? (spoilers)
As Anna’s handyman/gardener, Buell tends to oversee any issues that occur at Anna’s house. When Anna collapses outside in the rain, Buell carries her back to her house. He does so without seeking the need for a thank you.
Oddly, after Buell lodges a nail through his hand he appears to feel no pain and carries out with his duties. Then, after Anna manages to work her way up to the attic, she realizes that Buell has been living there. Unaware that Anna believes he could have murdered Lisa, Buell heads to Neil’s house to hand over some mail that got posted to the wrong address. However, once he gets there he is attacked by Emma.
