Who is Simon Marcus in Resident Evil season 1?

Whilst Simon Marcus is not a major character in Resident Evil, he has a lasting impact on almost all of the key characters, especially those present in 2022. And it’s safe to say that Simon had the most tragic ending of those featured in the first season of Resident Evil.

The son of Diana and ruthless and highly ambitious CEO Evelyn Marcus, Simon appears to have more similarities with Diana than Evelyn. When Jade and her twin sister, Billie, move to New Racoon City, Simon quickly becomes friends with the pair. And he then forms a closer and romantic bond with Jade. But in the deadly world of Resident Evil, it just wasn’t meant to last for Simon.

What does Simon Marcus do in Resident Evil Season 1?

Throughout most of his time in Resident Evil, Simon is mostly there to aid Jade and Billie. When the twin sisters start to suspect that there may be more to Umbrella, Simon uses his IT skills to aid them in their mission to uncover what is going on. When Jade uncovers the truth of New Raccoon City and that her father, Albert, is, in fact, a clone, Simon originally has a hard time believing her.

However, after a short amount of time, Simon begins to realise that Evelyn may be much more dangerous than he ever imagined. Towards the end of the season, Simon is very much more connected with Jade, Billie, Albert, and Bert than Evelyn. With their lives at risk, Simon still sticks by them as they try to leave Umbrella and New Raccoon City. Tragically, though, it becomes way too much for Billie as Evelyn chases after them. As the T-Virus takes its toll on Billie, she has a violent outburst and bites Simon.

It stops everyone in their tracks, and they realize that Simon will now be infected with the T-Virus. Despite Albert’s claims that he can make Simon better, his own mother, Evelyn, shoots Simon in the eye, killing him. As if Simon’s death isn’t tragic enough, it seems that it’s the incident that drives Jade and Billie apart. Essentially, Simon’s death could be argued to be the cause of the issues Jade and Billie have in 2036.
