With plenty of talking points, we have put together the key points of this legal rom-com drama on Netflix. To give you everything you need to know, here is a breakdown and recap of  Partner Track Season 1, which will contain spoilers.

Episode 1-2

As the first lawyer in her family, to say that Ingrid is determined to succeed is a dramatic underestimation. With a cushy role of a partner with a prestigious law firm called Parsons Valentine up for grabs, she’ll have to work hard to even stand a chance. But it may be an awkward encounter, as she’ll be battling against Jeff, who she has previously slept with. However, despite their past history, it seems there’s little to no chance of Ingrid becoming romantically involved with him. Mainly because she has a budding romance with the kind and incredibly wealthy Nick.

Episode 3-4

As Ingrid’s romance with Nick grows, so does the pressure to make partner. But along the way, Jeff makes several attempts to belittle Neil. Is he a little jealous? It sure seems like it. As Ingrid tries not to pay attention to Jeff’s advances, she works hard trying to prove herself to Parsons Valentine. And it seems to work as she quickly gets herself noticed. Elsewhere in Ingrid’s life, her romance with Nick grows stronger. As a result, he meets her wonderfully dysfunctional family. When a small fire means that Ingrid is temporarily homeless, Nick suggests that she moves in with him.

Episode 5-6

Ingrid and Nick seemingly remain the picture-perfect couple. Yet, her eye begins to wander towards Jeff. Sure enough, it’s not long before she kisses Jeff. Poor Nick. And it’s not just Ingrid with a dramatic love life. Her BFF Rachel sleeps with Justin. And through an error on Justin’s part, it doesn’t take long before it becomes common knowledge. During a work event, the work ars*ehole Dan performs stand-up with several racist remarks included in his skit.

Ingrid and Tyler try to voice their concerns. However, the ordeal is soon swept under the carpet. But not before Ingrid alienates Tyler and Rachel by trying to have Tyler sign an NDA. (Which, had he done so, would have made Ingrid look great at work). But it’s not all bad news for Ingrid. Nick decides to propose! But does she accept?

Episodes 7-8

Of course, she does! But Ingrid is able to brag about the news as both Tyler and Rachel refuse to speak to her. Then, in a slightly shocking move, Ingrid gets arrested. Why? Because her sister, Lina, stole her necklace and sold it. The only problem is that it wasn’t Ingrid’s necklace, to begin with. Jeff, though, is on hand to save the day. With his help, Ingrid’s innocence gets proven, and the charges against her are dropped.

During Thanksgiving, despite having just accepted Nick’s proposal of marriage, she sleeps with Jeff. Who walks in on them? Nick.

Episodes 9-10

Naturally, Nick dumps Ingrid. And like that, the previously loved-up couple are no more. But there isn’t time to mourn. That is because the moment that Ingrid has worked towards all season is nearly here. Even before any official announcement has been made, it sure looks like Ingrid will be made a partner with Parsons Valentine. Yet, to the major shock of Ingrid, she doesn’t land a role as a partner. (Instead, Jeff, Dan, and Hunter gain the much-wanted roles). Livid, Ingrid quits her job at Parsons Valentine.

But Ingrid isn’t one to take things lying down. She wants payback. Once she makes up with Rachel and Tyler, she sets about trying to take the majority so she can remove Ted from his role as chairman. Does it work? Of course! And now that Ingrid has Z by her side, it seems that Ted is powerless to do anything about it. But Ted does have one final bombshell before he leaves. He reveals that the reason he didn’t pick her as a partner was down to Jeff telling him that she got arrested. Cliffhanger alert! So what does that mean for Ingrid and Jeff? Do you reckon she seriously regrets cheating on Nick? There is always the chance that Ted is lying. But it’s much more juicy and exciting to think that Jeff stabbed her in the back. And if the show returns for a second season, that should be the route they go down.
