Summary
It’s an ok episode, but it feels as though it doesn’t get going until very near the end. Thai Cave Rescue feels as though it almost has the ingredients for a good show. But based on the pilot episode, it falls flat. Hopefully, that will change in the next five episodes.
The case involving the trapped football team in a Thai cave has been well-documented in recent years. And therefore, there have been a number of different shows and documentaries on the event. However, Thai Cave Rescue is the first show to feature involvement from the football team, nicknamed Wild Boars, which is introduced in Episode 1. It sounds like it could be an interesting watch.
Thai Cave Rescue Season 1 Episode 1 Recap
As you’d expect, the first part of the episode covers the events that took place before the disaster at the cave. Thai Cave Rescue tells us a little bit about each of the main players, with a bit of family background for some of the characters. Although, for the most part, there’s nothing that’s overly noteworthy.
Thai Cave Rescue does, however, improve as it moves closer to the cave. As the football team and their assistant coach work their way toward the cave, the rain continues to pour down. In some areas, 30 millimeters of rain has fallen. Near the cave, Titan argues with Eak, the coach, over his parents attending the upcoming football game. Before they center the cave, they pay their respects to a statue of a princess who killed herself within the caves. Unaware of the growing concern regarding the rain, most of the football team get excited as they get nearer to the cave.
Thai Cave Rescue Season 1 Episode 1 Ending
Pim learns from Noon that the rain may be coming. But as Noon is just an intern, she is unable to act immediately. However, Pim is quick to tell her that if her calculations about the rain are correct, there is no time to spare. So, Pim tries to get the park locked down in an effort to save lives. But her efforts are not good enough, and nothing is done as the rain storm develops. However, blissfully unaware of the potential weather hazard, Eak and the football team have been inside the cave for over an hour.
Away from the cave, Nop learns that Eak and the boys are at the caves. Naturally, this causes him great distress. Six hours after the football team entered the cave, their parents are at the scene, fearing for their children’s lives. And that’s the end of the first episode. Overall, it’s hard to remain focused on it. Yet, the ending really picks up and gives me hope for the rest of the series.
