We discuss why the upcoming Netflix K-Drama series The Fabulous, starring rapper Choi Min-ho, is delayed.
Choi Min-ho, the extremely popular South Korean rapper, songwriter, and model, has turned into an up-and-coming actor late. He has landed roles in such series and films as Salamander Guru and the gang, My First Time, and To the Beautiful You, and his feature film debut in the Chang film, Canola, starring Minari’s Youn Yuh-Jung. The Shinee boy band member was set to star in the South Korean streaming Netflix K-Drama The Fabulous. The release was slated for November 2022.
The Fabolous is set against backdrop of Seoul’s fashion industry, however, there was a recent announcement the series is now delayed. The Fabulous was directed by Kim Jeong-hyeon and by writer Kim Ji-hee. The cast includes an impressive amount of young actors besides Choi Min-ho, including Chae Soo-bin (Piece of Your Mind), Lee Sang-woon, and Park Hee-jung (Another Promise).
When was The Fabulous meant to be released?
The South Korean Netflix series was supposed to be released on the streaming waves sometime this year. In fact, the release was supposed to happen Friday, November 4th. Netflix made the announcement on the social media platform Instagram. The post on the Netflix Korea page The Swoon was posted on October 31st, 2022, which was a mere three days before the pilot was set to stream.

“As national mourning is taking place due to the tragic accident in Korea, we have decided to postpone the press conference and the release of <The Fabulous>.”
What is The Fabulous about?
Here is the official synopsis:
“Four best friends chase their dreams in the competitive world of fashion while juggling demanding jobs, romantic dilemmas and wild nights on the town.”
Additionally, what we know so far is the series is set in Seoul’s fashion industry. If you follow such news, the industry has been popular lately, with the management of Seoul’s Fashion last March wanting to take the nation’s industry to the “next level.” This is no surprise since South Korean culture has taken the world by storm over the past few years. Among the reasons for the hugely successful genre of K-pop music are Korean films like Seoul Vibe, the smash hit series Squid Game, Narco Saints, and All of Us are Dead.
The Fabulous plans to tell stories of young adults who live their professional and personal lives while struggling to work in this competitive and vigorous fashion world.
Why is the K-Drama The Fabulous delayed?
The Fabulous is delayed because of the tragic events in Seoul in late October 2022. On Halloween, 156 people were killed, and 151 were injured. This was the most significant peacetime accident in the country’s history. The accident occurred during a crowd surge during one of the year’s most boisterous celebrations on Halloween night at the South Korean capital. Over 100,000 people filled the Itaewon district streets, overcrowding known for its vibrant nightlife.
Considering the celebration, most of the victims were from a younger generation. The tragedy happened because of the celebration crowd surge in Itaewon’s narrow streets and alleys. The Seoul police have recently taken responsibility for the tragedy by not controlling the crowd and alloying too many people into the district. This is considered the deadliest disaster in South Korea’s history since the 2014 sinking of a ferry that caused over three-hundred deaths.
The tragedy has caused the South Korean entertainment industry to delay dozens of series, films, and music acts. The Fabulous is the most high-profile of the group.
The team and management at Ready Steady Cut would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the victims and families of the Itaewon tragedy. You have our deepest sympathy and unwavering support. Our hearts go out to you at this difficult time.
When will The Fabulous be released?
With South Korea going through a period of national mourning, there has been no announcement as of yet when The Fabulous will sail Netflix’s digital streaming waves. The Netflix Media Center has the show labeled “coming soon” to stream in South Korea and the United States. So, this begs the question, when will this highly anticipated series plan to stream?
At the moment we don’t know, but we’ll be sure to update this article when we do.
